i much prefer grammatical accuracy as well, since i feel like a translated song will never be as good as the regular song in its original context/language. i understand the need for times for translating and going for rhythmic accuracy (i.e translating a song in a movie/show across languages) but for any given song i like knowing what the artist actually intended

definitely, i’d say my priority is original linguistic preservation → interpretation → rhythm → rhyme
once me and a qbcord member for the qbcord music league decided to translate a song. They started from the top, I started from the bottom. We realized when we met up in the middle that we had totally different ideas as to how to interpret the song lol and different philosophies as to translating
So ig artist intent isn’t easy in some regard. so i think i like original linguistic preservation first. so it’s still up to interpretation. although in the process inevitably your own interpretation will kind of build in
