Protect is a very OP move in normal pokemon doubles. Its ran on almost all mons. I think in this game it will be no exception. I personally wouldnt think of it as an optional luxury move, but as an equally valid and strong part of the kit of every mon, just like the attacks

Also a neat little trick you can do here is attack your own allied pokemon to make them faster for future turns
I dont think that can be done at this point :P
Though if you and ash wanna play an unofficial bo3 just for fun, im fine with hosting it. But game integrity would be scuffed to officially make this new ruling after the pairings are decided
