so yeah I mean in the case of the absolute best mon the resistance matters

but for most mons a resistance is not really that strong of a trait to have

furries are strong much less because they resist troll and much more so because there are few straight attacks for them to be weak to

and the mons they are most weak to are generally covered by the most prevalent type, which is why they outclass gay on the whole (even though mono gay is the single best defensive typing in the game bar none)

one of the things I like about the VGC-esque “bring six mons, but only four battle” format is my team is allowed to have mons that are situationally very useful without being punished for it in every game where that situation does not arise

it

  • kills yourself
  • doesn’t even get a kill in return (no matter the starting HP of the target)
  • makes it so the target you hit is guaranteed to go first next turn and get an attack off before they die
  • always goes dead last, allowing you to be killed before it can go off
  • due to choice rule cannot be used after attacking with any other move and so this has to be your first attack after hitting the field

and even outside of that shit move tutuu has mediocre typing defensively, completely lacks STAB, and his only other attack is of a poor offensive type

it’s a bad mon except for into a team built around having orange as its ace

I was about to say that the attack had been heavily deprioritized, but I’m realizing I forgot to add that after the minimax algorithm exploded my program and I had to rewrite my entire choose_actions() function.

Though she did also create an entire class of characters that can just…hit her super-effectively anyways (Jane, Nbowie, etc), so their defensive typing doesn’t terribly matter.
