:closed_umbrella: Okay all jokes aside why the fuck does the alternating color scheme on posts sometimes flip (and then flip back) while you’re scrolling a thread?

:closed_umbrella: It’s really distracting and stuff.

:closed_umbrella: Also it has to be happening to everyone surely, so I guess it’s just an unfixable problem on the backend? I can’t imagine this standing for especially long, it’s such an obvious (if minor) blight on the reading experience.

If it helps, I’ve experienced this before.
Not sure why it happens? My best guess is that the forum loads posts in bunches, and hopping between them can cause issues, but that’s pure speculation.

i mean its just a nth-child coloring scheme so I can see why it would swap when loading/unloading things

that being said I dont think ive personally ever seen this occur?

:closed_umbrella: Happened again. Of note, once it happens once when you open a thread, if there’s still a lot of posts to scroll through it is Going to happen again later in the scroll, it’s like it’s some property of the top post that’s loaded or something. To reiterate, any time it happens on (say) the cookie thread (and there’s enough more of the cookie thread for me to scroll) it does happen again later on in that same scroll of the cookie thread.

I don’t have that issue. I use Gray Amber theme.

:closed_umbrella: well even if the glitch is Literally Happening Every Time You Scroll on your device it wouldn’t display on the Grey Amber theme, on account of that theme not having an alternating color scheme for posts in a thread.

:closed_umbrella: Still, if [Orange And Black-san] says to me in confidence that they have no idea how to even begin fixing the problem I might swap to this theme as a “Fix” for it.

yeah I mean if you don’t mind every post being the same color then we have themes that will dodge this issue entirely by virtue of not doing the alternating color thing

still in order to even begin to fix it I’d need a repro to even start and I haven’t been able to get one
