initiative to improve townplay

Naturally I was not online by then but an occasional backread never hurts

Once I dedicated myself to backreading an entire server three years to find out why a certain emoji existed

needless to say i started skipping after ten or so minutes, but i found it

you may also ignore that i thought that was the first post in here and realized it was in fact from 2021 a bit too late for notice

I liked the post, like, a year ago.

You can’t stop me.

While it may not exist (as was the case of the example I provided, oh how things turn to dust with time) any longer, that does not mean the implication does not remain

Wait it’s only from 2020? I thought the townplay thread was much older than that. Also I do not remember it being Marshal

I’m pretty sure this was started after the Wild West FM 1 farce.

idk how serious May was but one problem i notice townplay on this site consistently has compared to others is that people don’t really re-evaluate. like it’s rare to see someone completely flip their read in f3. you know the games where the deepwolf gets sniped right at the end? yeah that pretty much never happens here, and i think it’s the main cause of town losing. on the bright side i haven’t really seen town get sweeped recently. but the last time town won in f3 was like… what, AMQ mountainous?

perhaps if it’s a function of the fact, to quote several people “this site has too many bottoms” and people are worried about going with the Not Easy Answer - either because they don’t have the confidence to pull the trigger or because they’re worried about being flamed in post-game

obviously this would happen anywhere, but generally i feel like people on MU give less of a fuck about being wrong. i’m not sure if it’s because our community is closer and most of us are friends, so we care more about what people will think of us in post game? or we don’t want to misvote our friend in f3 or something.

oh also - achro doesn’t play anymore

yes i know this revelation isn’t really actionable, but i guess i can put one foot forward and say that i don’t mind if people are wrong and i won’t flame you

i guess i play a lot of turbos where people fuck up the easy answer all the time and it’s annoying for like 5 minutes and then i get over it

but i suppose if we cultivate an environment where people can know that they won’t be flamed or looked down upon for being wrong then they would let it influence them less and thus would be more influenced by things that actually happened in the game since said players had left it. sheeping someone on a day 1 read in f3 - especially in a non-mountainous game seems like a product of the former and often a bad idea

To be honest, this alone probably takes account of at least 10% of the reasons why Town has been on a decline.

towns need achro to bus half the wolfteam to stand a chance…

I don’t think being wrong is the issue it’s being consistently wrong

  1. kill people who keep randing mafia. they obviously keep getting it, so why shouldn’t they get it this time?
  2. kill people who have gone more than the expected amount of games without randing mafia
  3. have players with an above 50% town winrate submit a readlist each day. if it isn’t at least 80% correct, a mafia member should out and we should execute them: they’re probably a hidden 3p
