Some people say ā€œchatā€ is the first real fourth person pronoun.

I’d buy that given how often I use it on a day-to-day basis.

Which Vulgard post?

seems like a really interesting read but i’m dubious about the idea of a ā€œpostsecularā€ transgender life. that’s not to discredit the actual historical value of it as a text or anything, just an element of the premise I have trouble with, even if I agree that being trans isn’t incompatible with a religious perspective on the world

i consider being transgender sacred only in a very loose sensse, and I don’t particularly wish to be literally sacred.

i think it comes down to the fact that i have fairly strong religious trauma despite notionally never being religious

this is due to Complicated Reasons that come down to, like. my entire life i have been eroded from all directions by clamouring, empty creeds, and that includes millitant atheism and saccharine agnosticism just as much as it includes the heavy religious tinging to the reasons why my bullies hated me and how they tormented me.

i’ve come away with a strong disgust for religious ways of life that seem to define themselves not by any kind of philosophy or mythology but by a slobbering desire to propogate. that everything is just a message, and our only purpose is to shout the message until everyone is shouting with us.

it is a sickness unconnected to religion. i think it can happen to any kind of idea - the organised agnosticisms and atheisms of the anglosphere I grew up with were exactly the same. but it is a sickness of thought that hangs around religious language so often.

sing with us.
shout with us.
live with us.
kill with us.

there is no story that can touch every heart - but if we use our hands to help, surely we can make our story echo through every mind?

our creed is not a belief. it is the process of striving to believe, of making you strive to believe with us, so you can do whatever you’re supposed to do.

i will cease such musings, because I’m skirting very close to lines I don’t wish to cross here.
