in every city in utah (except salt lake county buti’ll get into that later) (that iv’e seen) there are two streets that are designed as the x and y axes. usually these are Main Street, Center Street, etc. i forgot which one is usually which but still

almost every other street is named in comparison to main street and center street. if your street is 3 blocks west of center street, it is 300 W. then, points along these roads are named in comparison to how far they are from the other one; so if youhad a house that’s on 300 W that’s named 457 N, that means that house is 300 blocks west and ~4.5 blocks north of where main street and center street intersect.

basically it’s a coordinate graph

it gets confusing when you get roads that go in multiple directions at different points. usually they’ll get named something fancy which is why you still get bad street names in utah.
occassionally specific cities will also have specific roads that are important that are also named; for example, provo has “cougar bolevaurd” which is like 1300 N

For me when I am ~cis any pronouns mode it’s cause I don’t want my gender to matter, I think the idea that people have to specify my gender every time they’re talking about me shouldn’t matter. So online I’m not gonna specify pronouns.

I don’t always feel this way but I do sometimes and I know others who feel this way always

this means if you’re driving and you see a sign that says the road parallel is 200 W, and then 100 W, you can deduce you are going east

I am in a very literal sense genderfluid but I don’t like the, like, social connotations and image the label tends to draw to mind for somebody like me, that’s not who I am. It’s something different. So I don’t use it

ye
each city has their own grid and their own main/center streets
salt lake county actually has the grid be the entire fucking county, even across cities

For some people (myself included), I can struggle with any pronouns because I just like having a default and not having to think about it. I can get used to it when I have a vibe on a person and know what they like or know they know me, but if that’s not the case, it gives me anxiety. I didn’t vote in your Tumblr poll for example because I don’t know you well enough and I don’t want to have a say in that because pronouns are, at least for me, important regarding my gender and the way people see me. Even knowing that you want it to not matter for you, it’s still difficult for me to do anything to prescribe gender for you
