Passive: Prescripts

“It’s up to Proxy Esther to clarify ambiguities in Prescripts, y’know~?”

At the start of each day, at least 1 player will receive Prescripts, instructing them to do certain things in the cycle it is given. Prescripts are intentionally vague and unclear, and only you can clarify what a given Prescript means, within reason.

When players do not follow their prescripts, they gain Karmic Consequences, which unlocks additional effects of Locked Blade when used on them. You will learn how many Karmic Consequences your target has after using an ability on them.

A sample list of Prescripts is shown below, but there may be more than just these. Players know that they are not obligated to follow Prescripts, but that there may be consequences for not following them.

To —: Take no action in a specific area.

To —: Use an ability on [RANDOM PLAYER] by the end of the next Day. It must consume a use.

To —: Disagree with a single read that [RANDOM PLAYER] makes tomorrow. If they make no reads, end the day voting them. Cite your sources to the host.

To —: Agree with a single read that [RANDOM PLAYER] makes tommorow, and then make a new opinion on them. Cite your sources to the host.

To —: Reply to the first post [RANDOM PLAYER] makes tommorow with a post that extols the virtues of following the Prescripts. Cite your sources to the host.

To —: Make every one of your posts tomorrow evening as a reply to a post by [RANDOM PLAYER].

To —: Go see the same player that the first player who claims they are going to visit someone visits. Cite your sources to the host.

To —: Use your ability on the person closest to you.

To —: Ask for help from the Index tomorrow.

Night: Locked Blade

“Prescripts are to be fulfilled–it’s as simple as that.”

This ability starts with a single effect, and gains more the more Karmic Consequences your target has. You may choose to not perform any of these actions, even if your target is at the threshold.

0 or more Karmic Conseqeuences: If your target receives a Prescript tonight, learn what it is. You may send a message to them clarifying what it means tommorow, taking effect as if they had asked you in the main thread to interpret it. You may also target another, different player with this effect tomorrow.

1 or more Karmic Consequences: Your target’s vote secretly counts as 0 tommorow. This effect is disabled in LyLo, MyLo, and when it would cause either.

2 or more Karmic Consequences: Send target player an easy Prescript that can be fulfilled publicly in thread.

3 or more Karmic Consequences: Learn exactly which Prescripts your target has received this game.

Night: Castigation (1 Use)

“Let me guess, it says ‘Esther, Gloria, Hubert, and the Proselytes under them shall head to the Library.’ Am I correct?”

Not usable before you have used the second effect of Locked Blade. Use all 4 effects of Locked Blade on target player, regardless of their Karmic Consequence level.

Night: A Golden Opportunity!

“Am I scared? Well, YES! I’m scared piss-and-shitless, thanks for asking!”

Target a player and learn if any of their actions have been interfered with in any way, even unsuccessfully. If they have been, repeat the most recent way it has been interfered with on a second target player, even if that attempt was unsuccessful. You may not redirect attacks this way, but you may stop them.

For example, you have targeted Player A and Player B on N3. If Player A was roleblocked N1, and then redirected to Player C N3, you will learn a “Yes”, and then you will attempt to redirect Player B to Player C.

Redirections to dead players cause roleblocks instead; if a player was roleblocked due to a “rolestopper”-type effect, you will repeat the “rolestopper” type effect instead, etc.

There may be more rulings on specific scenarios; feel free to ask the host for clarifications on hypothetical situations.

If you target a player who is visited by a Mafia member that night, the effects of your ability is delayed by one phase. (For example, a targeted kill would take place the next night, but a end-of-day kill would be delayed to that night)
This passive is disabled and replaced with Reverse Scale on even nights.

Passive: Reverse Scale

“I have no resolve to show to those who have taken what is mine.”

If you target a player who is visited by anyone else, you cannot be protected from any kills against you that night, including by way of roleblocking or redirection.
This passive is disabled and replaced with Force of a Wildfire on odd nights.

Night: Jin Ni (1 Use)

“You have all died. No one remains by my side.”

Target a player and burn them. At the start of the next day, it will be announced that they will die at the end of the day to their burn. (This is announced at the start of the night if your ability is delayed)

Night: Manifest E.G.O. (1 Use)

“Even if I am alone, night will come. And every night is followed by dawn.”

Must be used on Night 2, and cannot fail or be interfered with in any way. Target a player. They will be informed that you have Manifested E.G.O. with no other explanation. (This will include your name.) Then, unlock Tao Tie.

Night: Tao Tie (2 Uses) (Locked)

Passive: The Messenger

“I picked up the Prescript that I thought would spell my doom at last and read it slowly. All the fresh-looking Prescript contained was a command to be a Messenger.”

Each day and night, you may send a Prescript of your own creation to an alive player. These Prescripts may have any message, but must follow the following rules:

They must have a level of intentional ambiguity. This is the most important rule to bear in mind.
They may not go above 150 characters.
They must mandate an action to be taken. They may not mandate an action to be taken in the past, but may mandate actions that are usually impossible.
They may reference information that has taken place in the game, regardless of its actual mechanical nature. (For example, you may mandate that a player express a scumread on a certain player. We recommend the usage of this type above others, but do not mandate.)
They may reference information that only you know.
They may not reference out-of-game information, or mandate out-of-game actions, or otherwise break the normal forum game rules.
The player will be informed that they are not obligated to follow their Prescript, but that there may be consequences for not doing so.
Prescripts are delivered immediately upon submission during the day, but may not have a time limit less than 24 hours. (The end of the next night is always a valid time limit.)
If the host cannot verify if a Prescript was completed, it is considered neither complete nor incomplete for mechanical purposes.

It is recommended to workshop your custom Prescripts with the host to ensure they follow these rules. If they do not, and are not changed, they will not be sent out. The hosts also have the right to unilateral veto power.
We will inform you if you must change a Prescript of yours to follow the rules as son as possible.
You may ask the host for inspiration, but only once.

There may be other Prescripts going out that are not your Prescripts.

As a passive ability, this ability cannot be roleblocked, redirected, or manipulated in any other way, and does not visit.

Passive: Karmic Consequences

“Receive the Prescript and undertake it. Its execution is etched as karma, drawn into a ceaseless cycle that circles back to the hand of its executor”

When a player does not follow their Prescript in the given time limit, they gain 1 Karmic Consequences, which is a status effect that amplifies the effect of your abilities on them.
No one knows how much Karmic Consequences they have, nor do you.

Night: Manus

“Ignoring that Prescript and taking my own life as I’d planned might have been a truer expression of my free will.”

Target a player that has either claimed to have been sent a Prescript, or that you have directly sent a Prescript to, and send a message to them emphasizing that they should “follow [their] Prescripts, or Karmic Consequences will befall [them].” (Cite your sources to the host if it is a claim.)

Then, perform actions on them based on how many Karmic Consequences they have. You may choose to not perform certain effects if you wish.

1 or more Karmic Consequence: You may send your target another Prescript without detracting from your limit for that day or night tommorow. You learn this.
2 or more Karimic Consequence: You learn the name of the target player’s role, or the name of the Key Page if they are Mafia.
3 or more Karmic Conseqeunce: A Prescript mandating that the target be killed by dawn is posted publicly to the thread tommorow. If not fulfilled, every player that could have fulfilled it gains 1 Karmic Consequence.

Night: Vigil (1 Use)

“To —: Put three needles in Lily’s birthday cake by noon tomorrow. To —: Play rock paper scissors with the third person you meet and play rock. If you win, pull out 59 strands of their hair. To —: Kill the painting you’ve drawn. To —: Stand on any three-way intersection at 3:38 tomorrow, look to the east, and wave seven times.”

Receive a premonition of 2 abilities that the host expects will be used tomorrow or tomorrow night. You will learn their exact text (minus flavor) & a potential target. The target is not guaranteed to be accurate, but you may create Prescripts based around this information.

You are fully aware of the precise contents of your own Book, even the Hidden Contents.

Night: Information Assessment

“The Seven Association is responsible for information gathering and detective work. For this contract, they have been hired to assess the capabilities of each involved party.”

Each night, you may target a player. You learn what Threat Level their role would have at N0, provided it was assigned to a generic player.
Possible Threat Levels are as follows:

Canard
Negative utility roles. May include roles with lots of risk and negligible payout.
Examplse: Town Miller, Mafia Gravedigger (that visits the target of the factional kill, regardless of if they’re performing it)

Urban Myth
Roles that are explicitly filler, or roles that have little payout, even on an optimal use.
Examples: Vanilla Townie, Mafia Two-shot Motion Detector.

Urban Legend
Roles that have a bit of power, but do not impact the game too much.
Examples: Town Neighborizer, Mafia Alignment Cop

Urban Plague
Roles that can be impactful when used properly, but otherwise do little. Can even be actively harmful when used poorly.
Examples: Town Roleblocker, Mafia Faith Healer (doctor that disables all protections when another protection is used)

Urban Nightmare
Roles that can swing the game in their side’s favor under optimal use, and still have benefits even outside of this.
Examples: Town Tracker, Mafia Roleblock, Neutral Executioner

Star of the City
The most powerful roles. Should be prioritized over all other roles, both in hunting them and in using them properly.
Examples: Town Alignment Cop, Mafia Claim Vigilante

Impuritas Citivas
Game-defining roles in a way that is not exclusively power-related. Typically set out the “gimmick” of the game. Many other roles & game mechanics are baalanced around it.
Examples: Town Kingmaker, Mafia Convertor, Neutral Serial Killer

The Threat Level of a role has no correlation to the story segment its in-game counterpart may have appeared in. A role with multiple abilities will generally lean to a higher threat level.
All example roles are merely illustrative, and may not be accurate to its actual implementation, even if it is identical in and of itself.

Night: Grasping Vulnerabilities (2 Use)

May only be used past Day 2. Target an Unstable Book and privately learn its hidden contents, as well as all information it would reveal.

If the Book of the Library has not been burned by the end of Day 1, you will automatically burn it as if it had been burned by vote, even if you are dead.

Night: Geon, Gon, Gam, Ri (1 Use)

Available after Day 2. Burn a Book of your choice as if it had been burned by vote. If the Book of the Library is voted to be burned on Day 1, gain an extra use of this ability and you can use it Night 1.

Target a player. Tommorow, they always lose ties when tied for execution, and if not, whoever they are voting will always win the tie.
If this is your first used ability, their vote also counts as 0.

Night: Endless Battle

Target a player. If they are redirected, you will learn who they actually visited, if anyone.
If this is your second used ability, you will additionally learn your target’s intended target, and will also trigger this upon roleblocking or other manipulation.
