Spy is one of the ones I won with irl. It’s pretty good but it’s a test of just sheer memory and ability to info dump well when needed. Plus STs usually find some way to indicate the demon bluffs so you need to look at every role including the bluffs and then find extra bluffs you can take

Spy (and by extension, Widow) is absolutely one of the characters designed best for irl play
There’s gonna be more too, an example being Wraith (and I suppose the now deleted Rogue…)

flowergirl and town crier are very much meant to be balanced by memory, too
spy is probably the weakest minion in TB on fast speeds, but ridiculously overpowered on slow speeds

I spent another hour on botf and can say that it will probably not work cleanly regardless of the changes you make
Can get close to good
But it’s fundamentally broke sorta like FoL
it’s inherently impossible (or incredibly difficult at least) to take a game meant for an entirely different format and make it work on another while retaining its core functions and make it a good game
