(those two things may or may not be correlated)
(itâs probably not helped by her guilt in her significant participation of kamillaâs capture. but she can sort of push that aside as not being ultimately âher choiceâ; it was Wandererâs.)
wrong thread
(Drakor has feelings about the trial)
(but theyâre very mixed and right now heâs in a generally annoyed by everything mood, so heâs not really taking a side)
Wanderer is disassociating by focusing on other things
a league of 20 somethings enter a manorâŚ
Whatever theories her family mightâve drilled into her regarding her magic use seems to have worn off beyond a vague paranoia of simply being âseenâ doing it, or not been too strongly attached to her beliefs to begin with.
As the host, the baronâs daughter is at the head of the table*, with the baron and Nyna seated on either side of her. Lionel has been seated next to the baron, with Canary next to Nyna. Next, Wanderer has been seated next to Lionel, with Arius next to Canary. After that comes Drakor and Zelsh, and then Bugibugi has been seated at the very end, across from an unusually muscular elven woman, with an expression on her face that suggests this is a rather unusual occurrence. Neither Savil nor any of the baronâs or his daughterâs servants seems to be joining you at the table itself, although the baron does have a single visible guard standing a few feet behind him, and his daughter has apparently chosen to seat one of her guards across from Bugibugi.
in universe prestige tier list
(iâm pretty sure the seating arrangement is fairly accurate (not to a hierarchy within the party, but to vague status).
(lionel outranks everyone else by so much, canaryâs fairly not-poor)
(wanderer is a very much wild card but he owns a caravan, arius is a fairly decent merc)
(drakor is a slightly rugged tracker, zelsh isnât particularly fancy)
(bugibugi)
(Wanderer gets a slight perceived-status-boost from being a cleric! but not enough to push him above Canary (though there are clerics who would be))
politeness stuff
There are a large number of complicated etiquette rules about things like which silverware to use/et cetera, but if your character just mirrors what the other characters are doing youâre unlikely to majorly fuck up. (Also, when your character is given their seat, it would be considered very rude to try to switch, unless youâve been seated further from the Most Important Person than someone you unambiguously outrank, in which case rudeness is more complicated (since it would be regarded as very rude to have seated you like that in the first place, but appropriately drawing attention to it could be complicated to navigate).)
It could also be perceived as a sign that you arenât rich/high status if you donât have a hat/other headwear, but it would be very rude to wear your hat indoors â the rich/high status thing to do is to remove your hat when you actually enter the building. But not having a hat isnât rude , it would just be taken as a sign that your character is not as rich as the baron (which is true). (This is a stricter guideline for men than for women â for women itâs somewhat regional, although people with long hair and young children very commonly tie their hair back in some way, since babies really like to pull on peopleâs hair. In Granite Hill hats for women are non-default.)
(canary actually bothered to grab good clothes for the trial so she gets to be uncomfortably next to the now-widow who rode with her husbandâs corpse for ~3-5 hours. eventually you all will be able to obtain this status if you try.)
(Is Lionel wearing a hat? No. Does he have one? Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh)
(tutuu we need to swap to scare the baronâs servants to death that you far outrank me)
(do tell)
like, trolls are humanoids with the giant subtype (I guess it could maybe work in a higher level campaign, but at level 2 a troll would just be a wildly better martial than any of the actual party martials)
(or, like, drow nobles have a set of stats you could theoretically use, but the stats are Very Goodâ˘. this is sort of arguable though because someone could reasonably play a drow that is not a drow noble (âdrow nobleâ is a term of art thatâs separate from âdrow who is born into the nobilityâ))
(i dislike this phrasing. hm.)
(i can gather some of this but what does âpatronâ mean in context?)
in this case it means that I wrote the sentence backwards like a dumbass,,
