Unless you have some ingenious plans, then I don’t think you need a canteen.
I also don’t know what you’d need an iron pot for, unless we’re going to cook meals with buffs or smth.

I’ll give you all 32
Its part of the starter kit (the iron pot). Id keep the canteen to extinguish smth or myself (i cant cast spells, and we might not always be grouped) but ill ask aret if i can ditch some of the camping stuff
@Arete how would you DM rule these items:
Would they provide some camping/travelling benefit, or can they be ditched?
I’ll give you 16. So basically we both give Geyde 16
Cooking meals with a buff is actually a thing i believe, theres a profession (cooking) and iirc there were spells for cooking. But maybe not everyone needs a pot and im not investing in any of that, so yeah its up to Aret, i just thought it was mandatory
Btw Atlas dont you need physical components to cast spells? I actually don’t know, maybe you don’t. I was looking at a lot of spells and they required physical stuff (material items that you “sacrifice” to cast the spell, like in Full Metal Alchemist. Or maybe you just need to have them, I didn’t quite get it). Maybe those were Wizard spells and Sorceror just casts stuff for free, idk I haven’t looked at the Sorc. But you @Zone_Q11 might need physical items for some spells, maybe. Like I remember one spell needing copper wire, for example
This requires “a shaving of licorice root” for instance
@Arete how would you DM rule material cost for spells?
do they eat up the material component, so spellcasters need to bring the materials?
do they not eat up the material component, but spellcasters still need to have the component in their inventory?
are minor material costs handwaived, and possibly only major costs kept in?
are all material costs handwaived?
fifth option - something I’m missing or misunderstood
I start with eschew materials which gives me basic components, Arete has agreed to also give me cheap focuses with it.
Why the period at the end
i felt like it. i’ve done it several times inthread.

Ive been reading a lot of stuff
So basically, non-spellcasting classes will wanna be full-attacking in the mid-late game. You automatically get multiple auto attacks per round due to high BAB bonus. This requires a full round action. So you can only do 5 ft step and a swift action and free actions alongside it
So basically, if u will be hitting enemies with weapons (melee or ranged), feats that give you movement actions and standard actions won’t scale very well into the mid/late game, because you can’t use them alongside a full round attack, and your full round attack likely outscales them. But swift and free actions scale very well, especially mobility ones for a melee character
There could be exceptions ofc, like maybe if you are focused on combat maneuvers or debuffing, or building around some specific standard action given from a feat that can possibly outscale or be on par with a full round auto attack
Thats kinda funny how the strongest thing u can do in the late game is just auto attack
The benefits there are primarily RP/non-mechanical (if you have a mess kit you can eat food from plates with silverware, if you have soap you can clean yourself and your possessions, etc.). You can definitely ditch the belt pouch (there are many other ways to carry things) and it would be kind of redundant for everyone to bring a pot, the other two would be a little more
to skip (but, like, you can) (and Prestidigitation can substitute for many of the functions of soap)
you should bring soap though i need something to throw at our enemies to make them slip into a pit
Oki ill keep soap and mess kit
Does that mean ur bringing an iron pot? I can give u the money for it
* Technically there are a handful of divine spells with costless material components, but usually what you see instead is “DF” (Divine Focus), meaning that a divine caster can cast them with a holy symbol (or equivalent for divine casters that don’t draw powers from a deity)
there was a rules clarification at some point saying that Plane Shift tuning forks don’t count as a costless component, even though they don’t have a cost listed in the description of the spell
Rimworld ate without table debuff
