You see a rush of fragmented conversations, flicking from one to the next with no time between them.
“–had to pay out the nose to get the wheel repaired in a hurry. If that useless lout–”
“Don’t–”
“–if that respected individual were keeping the roads maintained properly, this never would have–”
“–kind of nice that he doesn’t pay us such close attention. His father was always desperate to make sure nothing slipped through his fingers, right?”
“–isn’t married, is he? Do you think he’s struggling with his finances? Perhaps he’d consider marrying down.”
“I doubt he’s quite so desperate as to marry you, dear.”
“–don’t see why he was in such a tearing hurry that he couldn’t even stay the night – where else is he going to sleep–”
“What does he even need all those men for?”
“I heard there’s been trouble down south.”
“I don’t see why that concerns him.”
The first stars are starting to come out when you leave the temple, and by the time you reach the hill many more of them have come out. The clouds have yet to dissipate, so far fewer of them are visible than on most nights, but there are nevertheless too many to number.
The hill itself is empty, save for the granite boulders for which it was named. You can hear noises – the whinnying of tanukis, the hooting of owls – but all of them seem to be coming from a little further away.
Bugibugi chases a firefly outside
Shiny!
The firefly twinkles in the air, alighting briefly on a dogwood shrub before taking flight again.

Hi! To find out what I can do, say @discobot display help.

Wanderer, in his reflection, scowls slightly. It would appear to him that, though negligent to a degree, there was not much to make a truly convincing argument about foul intentions the baron may have.
He prods the ground with a stick.
‘That’s not necessary though.’ What he is working with is a story. A baron with a large stockpiling of troops but a seeming inability to repair roads? A baron that’s in a hurry but nobody’s sure what their priorities are? That’s strange and worth looking into.
Perhaps all of this is related to why Pulura sent him here. Perhaps. A large number of troops anywhere is a sign something bad is going to happen.
He speaks to nobody but himself.
“When all you’ve known is the Worldwound and the state in flux next to it, you forget things. It’s so peaceful I feel on edge, frankly.”
(I would be fine to timeskip forward)
