“Of course, I will do what I can to help.”
“The first sign I saw that he was hiding something was twelve years ago, when his family was visiting my lands. But I had no proof even at the time, and I cannot be certain as to whether it was related. But it would likely be quite difficult to investigate it now, unless you could somehow persuade him to cooperate, and I expect that would be very difficult.”
“Thank you for informing me. I will personally ensure that those criminals are dealt with.”
Drakor nodded.
He glanced at the others.
Wanderer notices this.
“I believe that we are interested in proceeding further with the arrangement. You mentioned equipment?”
…Aren’t they forgetting to ask something?
I stay silent.
“Thank you.” Zelsh replied gratefully.
“I did. The bulk of the equipment I have to offer is in the armory at my manor house, but it should not be a difficult journey. For those of you less martially-inclined, it would also be helpful to know where your talents lie — I do not wish to issue you equipment that you cannot make use of.”
“…”
I’m not going to… say I do magic. I… value my safety, and… other stuff… at least that much.
…
I don’t know how I feel. At least… the trial’s first… and Arius. Made it better.
After a little more discussion of logistics, your conversation concludes. Though the house is quite large for this town, it is not nearly so large that it can reasonably host all of you at once, with both Nyna and the baron already visiting. But Halina hands you a letter for the innkeeper at Abadia’s Inn, telling you that the innkeeper will provide you with lodging for the night at her [Halina’s] expense.
The inn itself is a bit larger than Yamyra’s place back in Granite Hill. It seems that the majority of customers are sharing a single large bunkroom, with the poorest not even sleeping in bunks but rather in bedrolls on the floor, but Halina has arranged for semi-private (shared within the party, but not with other random customers) rooms for you.
Ugh.
I mean, that’s rude to think it was very nice for her to provide lodging I just do not like common areas and

(Is there perhaps someone who looks like a singer around?)
The tavern where the singer generally performs is technically next door to the inn, in a “separate building”, but the kind of “separate building” that still allows for people to pass from one to the other without going outside. The singer herself is currently in the tavern, performing a song about the escapades of an incompetent wizard who doesn’t know how to do anything except summon frogs.
I tilt my head.
…Maybe the building is reserved for late night performances then?
I lean to the side of Wanderer’s arm to take a look at the letter Halina gave us.
(is the letter sealed, or just written in parchment and we could look at it without having to open anything?)
It’s sealed with the family crest as soft proof of authenticity, but you can try to read it upside-down when the innkeeper opens it?
(that would require Canary getting close to the innkeeper. she does not want to get close to the innkeeper.)
Mph.
I slowly walk off from the main group and try to find a reasonable place to sit - with as few people as possible, and intently listen to the singer.
(is the singer any… good?)
She’s quite talented, perfectly on-pitch with lots of emotional expression. However, she seems to be mostly deciding which songs to sing based on audience requests, which may or may not be to Canary’s taste depending on what her taste in music is like.
Her song taste isn’t… the best.
But I like her voice!
I wait for a song that sounds remotely like what I’d enjoy, and start to mumble it to nobody in particular.

…Time to think.

I solemn am able to match anything remotely close to her tune, and I find myself thankful that I was far too quiet for anyone else to hear me.
…There’s three things I thought of during… the meeting.
(It is a little odd she just accepted this is her lot in life now.)
Hi! To find out what I can do, say @discobot display help.
