[RP] Play-By-Post Pathfinder

Wanderer will stick in the conversation for a number of minutes, adding in commentary here and there. To live is to experience, and he does so.

Every conversation has its end. After a time, he’ll leave and learn about the sleeping arrangements he’s certainly missed out on the planning of.

There are an extremely large number of sorcerous bloodlines, and the author regretfully notes that they cannot promise they are giving a complete list. Some of the more obscure varietals they have heard of (though they are not confident whether they are actually true, and suspect that at least some are not) are “nature sorcerers” who can bless the fields with abundant harvests as often and as easily as if they were casting a cantrip, “location sorcerers” who draw their powers from a specific location, “leopard sorcerers” who bond with leopards and can give them a fraction of their power, “griffon sorcerers” (probably unrelated to leopard sorcerers) who supposedly manifest wings as soon as they develop their powers, sometimes even before they can cast a spell…

Some people claim to be “sorcerers”, and resemble them in some ways (such as casting spontaneously from the spells they know rather than having to prepare spells each day, and/or having powers that run in their family), except that their power increases with their own cunning or intellect, rather than their charm or force of personality. Whether these people are sorcerers at all are up for debate; the author comes down on the side of thinking that they should not be classified as sorcerers. One scholar has apparently suggested that these people should be considered wizards , and the author devotes an entire page to dissecting that scholar’s arguments and explaining why they disagree.

Having learned of many things, only some of which are useful, Wanderer ponders how one would even go about learning of Baron Dalin’s actions.

It’s clear he should do this.

He believes something must be done to help the Rostlanders and that gaining influence to petition someone who can enact a major change is the only method.

He considers heroes of legend. They gained strength and prestige through overcoming challenges. There are challenges within and outside the walls of this town, such as the cult and the Urgathoans.

He can mention the Urgathoans when arriving at the watch headquarters tomorrow and ask for aid, citing what he and Arius gleaned.

He can determine the whereabouts of the cult. He’s skilled at this sort of thing. Arius can help on the site investigation…he’s good at that.

The rain starts up again as you’re going to sleep, and this time it’s particularly violent — you can hear peals of thunder in the distance, and see flashes of lightning through the windows. Fortunately, the weather dies down after about an hour, fading back to rain and eventually to nothing at all, and the rest of the night is peaceful.

Breakfast in the morning is the same sort of roll that was served with dinner last night (though clearly made fresh), topped with blackberry preserves and served alongside tea. Someone has decorated the tables with fresh cut flowers in glass vases, which you didn’t see at supper last night. The same guests are here this morning as you saw last night, save that the dwarf who was reviewing paperwork is absent.

Some of the staff are gossiping quietly about the morning’s news; apparently, the Lord-Mayor has put out some sort of announcement to the effect that he’s looking at measures for bringing in extra food to the city, in response to the influx of new arrivals, with the stated goal of ensuring that the city’s existing residents will be able to purchase food at prices they can afford. As yet, these measures have not actually been implemented, but from how they’re talking, the Lord-Mayor does tend to actually do the things he says he’s going to do. (One of the staff members has heard the claim that in Galt the price of bread is simply capped by law, and is expressing the sentiment that that would really be a much more straightforward way to prevent the price from increasing.)

anyone who wants to do things at breakfast can do them, anyone who wants to just eat breakfast and then leave to do Other Things can do that

Wanderer elects to sit with his group.

“It’s not directly related to what we’re doing, but I feel I have to do something about these cults. If you’re in, leave with me after breakfast.”

Weirdly enough, Canary doesn’t seem to touch her tea either. She nods at Wanderer as he speaks, although it’s hard to understand whether she means that as confirmation or that she’s willing to join.

“I did hear that it had something to do with Urgathoans. Not one to want to see a bunch of… roving undead around the place so… I’d be in for doing something about it.”

He finished up breakfast fairly quickly before trotting off to the watch headquarters.

Drakor nodded. “Count me in.”

He followed Wanderer.

Lionel also follows Wanderer.

Once Paprika is done with her breakfast and tea, she pushes back her chair and crosses her arms a bit. “I have an errand to run. I have to stop by the bookshop to pick up some things.”

I’d prefer to concentrate on the mission, that’s more interesting, but I feel like I’m not coming up with any leads.

“Tell me where to meet you.”

“…”
Canary, whom was still eating as a handful of you quickly ate your portion and rushed out, continues to eat. She looks a bit physically pained to eat without liquid, having finished the blackberry dish quite early.

(He would tell you that he’d likely be at the Old Pewter by the time you catch up)
