Eventually, Canary finishes too, and starts to aimlessly wander around the streets. Like how Wanderer looks for leads, but far more inefficient.
Your book is all ready to go by the time you arrive! Bennadetta is magically Scrivening an entirely different book when you enter, but she sets it aside at your arrival.
“You know, I was thinking about what you said about Jan yesterday, and it made me think — I’ve never seen him without that hood of his. Do you think he might be hiding something?” She looks at you as if she’s expecting you to agree.
That’s fine! Just as long as you’re specifically deciding which spells you have in advance (or intentionally leaving slots open and planning to spend the in-universe time preparing them, meaning you won’t have those slots ready in an emergency)
There’s a different guard outside the Watch headquarters today. This one is quite tall and extremely muscular, but when you approach, he seems rather distracted from his actual duties by counting… something… in his field of vision. As it becomes clear that you’re approaching, he straightens up guiltily and clears his throat.
“Are you here to report a crime?”

Wanderer explains the situation from yesterday according to what he thinks is protocol, before pausing…
“I would also like to report the presence of a death cult of some sort.”
“My good friend Arius would be best at explaining that particular situation.”
“I never see him at all,” Paprika says frankly. “I’m from out of town, and there’s not much reason to go over to that bookshop. But if you say he’s never without the hood, I suppose he is, and that would likely mean he’s hiding something. I don’t think that would be just balding.”
“Could I have a look at some of the broadsheets from New Stetven you mentioned earlier? I was party to a bit of an argument over dinner and I’ve got to resolve it.”
“Ditto.”
The streets are much busier than they were yesterday, probably because the rain stopped! Over there a group of children is playing under the supervision of a slightly older child, over there a bakery is selling freshly-baked bread, over there two men are having a loud argument about whether one of the men is a scammer, over there some Gorumites from the Gorumite order you heard about from Wanderer are doing some kind of grappling drill, over there someone is attempting to patch a newly-discovered hole in his roof…
Is Canary planning to just wander around until something happens, or will she at some point start looking for something in particular?
(in her fantasy land, she’s looking for gossip or leads on the baron or whatever that will give her something that makes her one of the more productive members of the group so they don’t think poorly of her. in reality she’s going to aimlessly wander around until something happens.)
((Da*** you mean??))
Arius presents himself to the tall, muscular guard. “We heard some interesting rumors about an abandoned hospital near the outskirts of the town. Yesterday, we went to visit the place. The place was boarded up, and the symbol of Urgathoa was drawn all over the place.”
“I have the ability to detect magic, and I have identified at least two entities who were under the spell of Gaseous Form; a spell that I believe does not bode well in general.”
(Haha)
He looks a bit confused as he listens to your explanation. “No one told me about any of that,” he says in a tone of annoyance (not annoyance at you in particular). “But if you’re telling the truth, I can check inside, I’m sure there’s someone who knows.”
Fortunately, rather than immediately going inside, he sticks around to listen to the rest of what you have to say.
“A death cult? Separate from the demon cult???”
((bruh))
“To Urgathoa from what we can tell. The rumors of a plague don’t seem unfounded, though Arius is more informed on such matters.”
“Of course!”
She retrieves them. They are still a little bit out of date, seeing as they had to come up the river. Most of them are focused on general news plus commentary (plus miscellaneous other features, like advertisements and very short fiction), but as promised there’s the Abadaran prices one as well.
What’s Rika looking for?
“…It’s an Urgathoan cult. I don’t think my friend quite knows how worship of Urgathoa operates. That being said, still likely dangerous.”
((Oh ****. I did not read P#5710 and went straight to P#5711.))
Arius quickly looks back-and-forth between Wanderer and the guard. “I have heard from him that there was a cult symbol written in blood in some cellar, but I don’t know any details.” He says, pointing at the half-orc who put him under pressure.
