(Wait didn’t you)
(Yes. She did.)
Drakor walked back to his room and began to sleep.
(Once nightfall comes he’s going to stay up)
“It’d be weird to carry wood around if we’re going somewhere nice. I can make sure you have it on you at all times.” Paprika shrugs her shoulders slightly. It doesn’t seem like it’s actually her favored weapon, anyway. “Do you need anything else? Wands? A wallet? Anything you need can be easily accessible. It’s custom clothing, you may as well make the most of it.”
Give me something interesting to do.
I look at her really uncomfortable at the thought of making more work for her.
“I don’t… use wands. I can’t…”
A place for my pouch of coins would probably be the most ideal thing, but… I still don’t really want it.
(Is Drakor sleeping before dinner?!?!?)
“Fine. I’ll just give you pockets. They’re not really hidden, so you can’t sneak anything into anywhere. and they’re annoying to add while maintaining the right shape of the dress, since this is a more modern silhouette… but…”
Paprika starts sifting through her materials, looking to make the desired modifications.
“It’s light and easy enough to move in. I get by in this dress, which is much heavier, and you’ll have no problem keeping it clean.” Paprika’s eyes drift upwards as she recalls something.
“Hey, did you know one of the cultists was a sorcerer who can only cast cantrips? Maybe Flauros can teach her a spell.”
I don’t… need pockets…
I force an awkward half-chuckle.
(Yes. Yes he is.)
“So, do you think the Baron’s gotten into some kind of cult? What with him staying with the jeweler here, it doesn’t seem horribly far-fetched. It’s evident he’s concealing what he’s up to.”
Paprika speaks as she works, clearly not very invested in what she’s saying.
As prompted by a meowing noise, she pauses to unzip her satchel and let her cat out. She holds out some dried meat, which the cat happily accepts.
“…Why didn’t they ask the… guard… if he named all the members he knew of?” I ask another question to conceal that… I don’t really know if the Baron is a cultist.
“There wasn’t much time on the spell left and he was getting threatening. Plus, the Watch doesn’t like investigating their own. I was the one who insisted they make him give names in the first place.” Paprika frowns irritatedly. “I hope the remainder of the investigation is actually thorough. Going to the Watch won’t do anything, I have no clue why Arius was so insistent. We need to go up the chain enough that there’s not so much petty loyalty.”
I nod.
…What spells do I have that clerics can use?.. I think they might be barred from coin shot, cause… it’s not super magically damaging…
(Wait this could be really funny)
I walk over to my side of the room, and place down both my books. My newer one, the book on clerics, goes on top. So I can grab it easily if I have any questions. And it seems… more useful, anyways. And it’s kinda… a size smaller, despite containing more pages.
“Do you want to come with me to talk to the Lord-Mayor? You seem competent enough at gathering information, and I think Drakor would kill me himself if I went off alone.”
It’s not like I’m scared.
“Uhm.”
No. “…Okay.”
Paprika takes a look at the books Canary puts down.
She’s doing magical research? That’s…
“I can remove the mark from your skirt, if you’d like.”
How should I clean my clothes when…
I look over at Rika, then back.
…
“It’s fine.” I stare down. “I probably won’t wear it anymore anyways.”
“Okay.”
She knew what I was talking about.
“So, are you a cleric, or just researching?”
