it depends on the style of dress, but generally between 2 and 4 if it’s not Super Complicated

(usually the main variable of how much fabric a dress uses is how long the skirt part is. this doesn’t mean the bodice and stuff is less fabric (usually), it’s just that whether it’s a short or long dress changes how much fabric it could be exponentially)

(i would’ve gotten there)

(also the amount of fabric is sorta second to the length, if that sorta makes sense. like let’s say you had to cut out a section to be the skirt, you’d need a very sizable area lengthwise to do that in, you can’t just get all the fabric and combine it anew)
