The seven of you set off southwest, along with Nyna, Savil, your two prisoners, and the dead body (which is being returned for burial). Kamilla makes polite conversation with her father, and when she notices that Nyna seems bothered by this, starts making rather-more-pointed conversation clearly intended to denigrate the late Messire Kaver, repeatedly needling Nyna by implying that her husband was corrupt, unjust, et cetera. Nyna sniffs, sits straight upright, and stares past them like they arenât there at all.
At first, your trip is reasonably uneventful; you ford the same creek that Savil fell into on his journey, this time with rather less difficulty, and continue on your way. Your wagon does get stuck briefly in the mud, but considering the many strong people itâs carrying, itâs not hard to fish it out. At first, the farmers you pass by, busy planting their fields, mostly greet you politely, nodding to you as you pass, but after a couple hours, they start to seem more reserved. You do see some signs of disruption â a sheep pen thatâs clearly been badly damaged, a smashed window, some fallen logs that no one has bothered to clear out of your way â but itâs hard to tell for certain what the problem is.
(âThose werenât here last time,â remarks Nyna at the logs.)
