Arius lowers his head slightly. “Naturally, thank you.” He then walks to the prison cell where the Demir family are kept.

((Are there any other prisoners nearby? It shouldn’t matter whether they hear Arius’ message or not in the grand scheme of things, but the answer to the question would affect the volume of his message.))

(No one else, just the two of them. There’s only a single cell, and they’re sharing, but someone has moved in a second cot for them.)

“Sten,” Arius calls the name with a sense of urgency. “I managed to pull off some strings so Kamilla won’t die. She would have to serve in a penitential unit, but at least she would be alive.”

“This is the best I can do for you. All I need from you two right now is to not resist during the trial or do anything to worsen your situation.”

After some time, Canary gets up and slowly moves to the group’s sleeping area, laying down on one of the elevated cots - weirdly near where one person is already sleeping, and dozing off.

Wanderer nods and gives the gold piece before taking the stories.

He gets up.

“Thank you.”

He leaves to go his room.

“If any of you are still up, I’d like to discuss some things. Notably…who you people are, and who I am.”

Canary tosses in her cot and sits up to look at you, wearing the expression of someone who definitely was debating pretending to be asleep to get out a conversation. But whatever you’ve done in the past couple days must’ve made her decide that you’re worth having to have a conversation with.

Drakor folded his hands over his chest. “Yes?” He asked, eyes still closed.

“I am known as The Wanderer. I have yet to understand why I accepted the patronage of the Baron, but I hope to figure that out in the future.”

“How do you accept something without knowing why?” Drakor asked. “I do not follow.”

“Well, you’re an impulsive one. Which is probably how we ended up on that sprint, in retrospect.”

“I just do. It’s difficult to explain without saying something to the effect of ‘I follow the guiding star of Pulura’.”

“I assume that in understanding the others around me that I’ll understand my own place in all this.”

Drakor was quiet. “And is that why you seek to know our purposes?”

{That’s a little… sad. To hear.}

{…I shouldn’t think bad on other people’s religion. It’s rude.}

He exhales.

“Yes.”

Drakor considered.

“What is it that you wish to know?”

Sten looks at Kamilla. “Did you hear that? You can cooperate, right?”

“I’m not an idiot ,” says Kamilla.
