[RP] Play-By-Post Pathfinder

The man’s eyes crinkled. Presumably, he was smiling back, but he still wore the mask covering his face. “I was informed that you may have some lodging in your stable area. Is this true?”

The interior of the temple is reasonably tidy, with several wooden benches arranged in a semicircle halfway around a circular area on the northern side of the building. Someone has marked out a circle in chalk, about twelve paces straight across at the widest point.

There’s a wooden altar in the center, with elaborate spiral carvings resembling the symbol of Pharasma winding up both legs; a small ceramic bowl of water sits atop it, accompanied by a wooden pendant with the same spiral symbol. A lectern, currently empty, stands nearby. Smaller altars to other gods are arranged around the northern outer edge of the room; the altar to Erastil has a sprinkling of seeds lying on top of the linen altar cloth. The central cistern is near the main entrance at the southern end, still half-full of water, and over the last hour people have been stopping in to gather water from it more frequently.

A doorway near the altar to Abadar leads into the rectory area, where Agneta Allet and her family live; she’s currently escorting a group of three strangers (you know, the previously-described ones) towards it.

Several people are already gathered within the chalk circle, and one of them responds to your question. “Well, I scraped up my leg this afternoon. Figured I’d come get it fixed.”

A woman swaddling a baby nods, holding up an injured thumb. “My little mouse decided to get bitey.”

“I’m just really worn out,” says someone else.

In the group Agneta is escorting, the younger man whispers something to the older man in a hushed tone, who gives him a nod. The younger man jogs over to the chalk circle.

“Yes, yes! You’d be sharing the loft with Rabbit” (she gestures at the man who was hauling wood) “and of course there’ll be some mules in the stable itself, but it should be nice and warm.”

He nods, then walks over to the circle. The three strangers…he gets a sense there’s something about them. But it would be impolite to ask someone ‘what is your life story?’ He learned this lesson by experience.

Wanderer will assist with the healing if necessary.

can I get you to roll a Perception check for me?

(you’re good this time, but in the future, I want to try to mostly use Discobot for non-secret rolls)

Looking at the man up close, it’s not hard to get a sense of why he might want healing. It’s mostly covered by his trousers and tunic, but his right arm has visible bruising, and from his very-slightly-uneven gait it seems likely that his right leg does as well. His clothing is also slightly damp – slightly surprising, as (despite the threatening clouds that have been gathering all day) it hasn’t actually rained at all today.

The masked man nodded. “Excellent. What is the pricing?”

[wait no I’m stupid you rolled in the other thread]

“Seeing as I don’t even have a proper room for you? Call it one link, comes with a bowl of soup today and some porridge at breakfast tomorrow.”

Bizarre. Where could this man reasonably get wet from?

He gets the sense that it couldn’t have been from a mishap in anything especially routine, given the bruises. Something weird happened, and that gets Wanderer interested in learning.

When the time for Agneta’s channel comes, she makes sure everyone is standing in the circle, positions herself in the exact center, holds up a holy symbol, and channels healing energy into the crowd. Most of the assembled people start trickling out of the building and back to their homes, but one man, who’d been sitting off to the side nursing a sprained ankle, is still not fully healed; he thanks you profusely for your assistance.

Among the locals sat a man obviously out of place. Partially because of his attire, as he was wearing a scale mail that seems to have seen better days, paired with a scabbard with a curved end, and partially because he was the poor sucker who has lost the most money in the past hour.

“Are you guys cheating?” he asked with disbelief. “I have lost count how many times I have lost back to back. There no way you are not cheating!”

(should I roll for my channel…?)

sure! (he’s not very injured anymore though so even a low roll should be fine)

The man nodded and withdrew a silver link from his belt pouch, handing it to Yamyra. “Fair terms.”

(do we track money ourselves?)
