After Sten, he brings in Savil, then calls in several of those who were present for either the fight with Sten or the fight with Kamilla to corroborate some of Wanderer’s claims.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
(“…You know what I think, I think they should make him compensate us for all the trouble he’s put us through over this ridiculous forgery…”)
And eventually, it’s time for the verdict.
Under ordinary circumstances, Valdek Luzin would be inclined to send east for records of Willem’s trial — not because he really expects it to change his decision, but for the sake of completeness. Under ordinary circumstances, he would hand each verdict down privately to the defendant, and others would become aware of the sentence only when they saw it carried out. Under ordinary circumstances, he wouldn’t, in fact, be especially sympathetic to someone who murdered a magistrate in anger over one of his rulings.
But his cousin has made it clear that he hopes for a swift and merciful verdict, and wishes there to be no doubt about the sentence, and he has no intention of betraying that trust.
One by one, each of you is escorted into the courtroom again. (Nyna, as well as Savil, remain in the antechamber.) Both Kamilla and Sten are standing in front of him.
“Kamilla Demir of Granite Hill. I find you guilty of murder and of attempting to obstruct those tasked with enforcing the law. These are grave crimes, but in recognition of the actions you took to mitigate the unwarranted harm you caused, and the fact that the circumstances of your crime are unlikely to be repeated, I sentence you to service in a penitential unit, where you may repay the life you have stolen by defending the lives of others. Your term of service will be indefinite, but after ten years, your superior officer may petition for clemency on your behalf.”
“Sten Demir of Granite Hill. I find you guilty of obstructing those tasked with enforcing the law and of illegitimately attacking multiple individuals without having the right to impose physical punishment on them. For your crimes, I sentence you to ten lashes, and order you to pay a compensatory fine to those you assaulted in recognition of their lost labor, to be valued at one link for all those present during your assault and three links for Arius Veytolka.”
“Each of you must acknowledge your sentence with your signature.”
The two of them sign.
“Thank you for your assistance in this matter. You are all dismissed.”
Kamilla is escorted out under guard; Sten is released from his manacles and set free.
Drakor exhaled slowly, then made his way to the exit.
Wanderer prepares to go to wherever the Baron stated the equipment was.
He kind of wants to get on with his life at this point.
Drakor slipped behind Wanderer and followed.
Canary awkwardly shuffles out of the building, and upon seeing the Big Group She’s Apparently In walk away, quickly follows.

(Spooky)
(hey it’s 3 3 it’ll neither be too bad or too good!)
The baron’s main residence is on an estate a couple hour’s travel from the town, but fortunately the weather today is bright and sunny without being too hot. One of the carriages that was in his retinue yesterday evening is absent today, and the remaining carriages move a bit slower than your wagon ordinarily does, but even so, it’s not an especially difficult trip. Just about any travel carries some risks, but apparently no one today is stupid enough to pick a fight with the baron, most of his retinue, and also an entire additional adventuring party; you make it back to the baron’s estate without incident.
His manor-house is only two stories, so not nearly as tall as the bank/temple/courthouse, but it has a much grander horizontal footprint, with multiple one-story wings attached to the central two-story area. The building is decorated with ornamental pillars (purely aesthetic, not loadbearing) and a facade of wooden trim. The whole building has been painted a pale blue, and every window is made of solid glass. In addition to various other buildings, the area nearby also has a cute little gazebo, with an artificial pond dug right nearby.
Compared to the rest of the house, the armory is particularly secure, but with his escort you have no trouble arriving. He leaves you in the care of his master-of-arms, a stocky middle-aged man, with instructions on how to equip you, and departs for his own study.
(incidentally, I’d like a low-stakes perception check from people who feel like making one)
