She pauses.
“… Does my opinion matter to you?”

“Of course.”

(He sounds quite genuine when he says it, and he’s clearly not entirely lying. You might believe he was being fully honest with you, if the idea wasn’t so implausible; as it stands, you’d guess that he’d be willing to consider your opinion if you actually have new information, but that where his judgment disagrees from yours, he’s going to follow his own judgment.)
what locations could we reasonably make it to?
I narrow my eyes… so I shouldn’t explain it. Too long.
I accidentally phrase my statement as a question. ““Do you think the baron to the east is… preparing for war? Given… all the soldiers he conscripts, and uhm… both Lionel and… Messire Kaver were military… in some form, so since… maybe he was restructuring it ?”
“…Or. Preparing for defence. Out of. Suspicion someone might be after him.”
I hesitate. “-But I’m not a general. Or. Anything.”
“He may be. There are certainly many who fear that a war may be coming. But if so, it is foolish of him to allow his roads to slip into disrepair. Spears and arrows will not move an army to the battlefield, nor provisions to an army.”

(If you travel straight south, you could make it to the river, although since Hazel Ford is upstream of the river and also you have a large wagon pulled by pack animals that would be somewhat inconvenient to bring onto a boat, getting to the river is less useful for transporting your group than it might normally be. Alternatively, if you move southeast (heading more directly in the direction of Hazel Ford), you could reach the village of Talloak by nightfall, and then Hazel Ford would only be a few more hours of travel from there. Technically, if you’re willing to travel in the dark, you could even reach Hazel Ford tonight, but as several of your group members have no unusual ability to see in the dark, and likewise for your mules, this may not be a great decision — it’s close enough to the full moon that you’d still have some light, but probably less than you’d like.)

Wanderer will likely proceed with the assumption that going to Talloak is best.
Wanderer will consult various sources to determine the correct path to take to Talloak.
(There’s clearly at least a little bit of subtext there, but it’s hard to tell what it is.)
Canary frowns and goes silent.

It’s not too hard to get directions.
(“Oh, you just follow the little creek as far as the bend, then turn off east…” “…and when you see the village built around the tall oak, you’re there. If you see an oak, and you’re thinking, ‘I’m not sure that one’s tall enough’, it’s not the right oak.”)
Fascinating.
