“You’d think somebody blowing money on books would at least want to go to multiple bookstores to see all the selection. It’s either the medicine books or quid-pro-quo. I wonder if Jan has a dirty secret…?”
Paprika tries her best to incentivize the bookkeeper to look more into the matter by morning. It does involve her competitor, after all.

“I really do wonder. It’s been a while since I’ve been in town, so I don’t know who to ask about it myself…” Paprika turned back to look at Canary and Wanderer. “Seems like my companions are heading out soon. I won’t keep you for longer.”
“Have a good day! I’ll have that mystery ready for you by tomorrow.”

Paprika thanked the bookkeeper and headed back over to Canary and Wanderer. As soon as her face was turned away, her expression became exceptionally grumpy.
“Let’s just find a place to sleep.”
