[RP] Play-By-Post Pathfinder

“There was a fire a couple weeks ago,” says the younger one. “But it got put out right away.”

“Besides, it might have been unrelated,” says the older one. “The cult of Flauros is too cunning and insidious for it to be their work.”

Shrug. “I don’t know, I don’t know much about magic.”

The older one makes a very concerned expression. “Oh dear, I didn’t think of that! You’d better take care of them at once!”

(Geyde, your character thinks this is a highly disingenuous suggestion)

“I’m afraid I don’t know much about Flauros. What kind of stuff is involved in his worship?” Paprika’s voice takes on a much higher and younger-sounding tone than it usually does.

“Insidious?” Drakor narrowed his eyes. “You sound like you have experience with them.”

((. . .))
((Party? If the enemies inside the abandoned hospital are undead, then I propose we destroy the entirety of the hospital itself. In particular: The roofs.))

His eyes look around the room before settling on the ground in front of where the ‘mural’ was.

“Drakor. I need your tracking expertise. I think I found some leftover residue.”

He walks over to that wall.

(He is making an excuse to whisper things)

“Flauros is the demonic patron of fire, volcanoes, and red dragons,” he says. “His worship can take forms as simple as burning an offering to him, or as terrible as lighting a city on fire. It’s said that in the Valley of Fire, his worshippers can speak to him directly.”

(people with K(Religion) may attempt to fact-check this)

“Young man, I’ve been serving in this town’s Watch for longer than you’ve been alive. I’ve seen things you wouldn’t believe.”

(Paprika is a reddit atheist*)

(*Worships Nethys a little but that’s okay)

“Who’s had access to this place? Sorry if you already said this. I just got here.”

“Enlighten me,” Drakor said. “What have you seen the cult of Flauros do?”

He subtly held up a hand to Wanderer. Wait, he tried to convey.

The remainder of your trip is uneventful. It seems that this stream has had rather more issues with flooding, and that definitely lengthens your trip, but since you don’t have to actually cross it it’s not too serious of a problem. Even once you start to approach the kid’s village, there’s no sign of the murk you’d expect when the village’s name is literally Murkbrook, but the kid doesn’t seem to be concerned.

The kid doesn’t actually bother to walk all the way up to the village itself. Instead, he pulls the wagon over to the field where his father is working, then throws his arms around his father in a hug. “Dad! I’m back!”

“That’s the thing,” says the younger one. “The place was locked up!”

The drifter that came to the village for odd reasons walks up to the man. She looks to be steeling herself, and it’s mostly working.

He shudders. “Even what they did here isn’t the worst of their work. Why, just a couple decades ago, we had a cultist going around trying to convince people it was a good idea to ‘appease’ red dragons.” He shakes his head, as if to indicate disapproval.

(roll sense motive on that)

“…Miss?” says the kid’s dad eventually. It’s not hard to tell that he’s confused about who you are and what you’re doing here.

Good news, it seems like he’s being fully honest with you! He’s just genuinely very concerned about this terrible cult full of arsonists!

(perhaps you should stick to what you’re good at… not tracking either…)
