Drakor, Arius: the two of you make your way back to the alley! Unfortunately, by the time you arrive, Rafau and your companions are all missing.
Drakor walked back to the alley.
(Is there anybody there?)
(Nvm)
âI already got what I wanted. The rest of this is boring bureaucracy. I want to skip to the part where I get to see his face as he loses.â
âMhmmâŚmakes sense.â
Drakor scratched his head. "Huh. Maybe they went to Watch headquarters?
(Furudo Erika does a lot of court/bureaucracy stuff⌠character divergence⌠though thereâs a different dynamic, sheâs more elevated there)
âVery well. What statement would you like to testify to?â
âHe attacked me first,â cuts in Rafau. âHe stabbed me before I laid a hand on any of them.â
The Abadaran looks faintly irritated in the way of a customer service employee who is experiencing the same annoying customer behavior sheâs seen multiple times a day for several years but still wishes that someday the customers would stop doing that. âThe Watch will have the chance to raise their proposed objections after heâs proposed his statement,â she says pleasantly.
Zelsh proceeded to explain everything that had happened. What he said was very similar to what Paprika had said, but with added details.
((Plz⌠I donât want to go through another trialâŚ!))
âWe should probably check there.â Arius agrees.
âI never actually had time to determine what happened before I got there, to be frank. I just assumed the guard took things too farâŚprobably correctly.â
He thinks, but does not speak.
âI donât know what he or his companion thought was happening when they attacked me,â says Rafau angrily, âbut I can say that I wasnât the first to draw blood, and that I tried to subdue them until it was clear that wouldnât work! And Iâll gladly say Iâm no cultist, and that Iâve never worshipped a demon lord.â
The Abadaran looks a bit⌠tired. âSir, that wasnât what Mister Zelsh here alleged. Would you like to pay for a second Truthtelling to refute his actual allegation?â
âFine!â he says. âTake it out of the Watchâs account, for all I care!â
But even as he says it, you can see on his face that the bravadoâs gone out of him, replaced with⌠fear.
Drakor nodded and began walking to the headquarters.
âYou need to refute whether you know the cultists and whether you were involved with the symbol in the cellar.â Paprika spoke with an extremely irritated tone. âIt doesnât matter whether or not you genuinely worship the demon lord or were just doing it for money.â
âVery well,â says the Abadaran. âZelsh, youâll need to permit the spell to affect you â if you successfully throw it off, we wonât be able to verify your honesty.â
She makes a gesture and taps you gently on the shoulder.
(do you choose to voluntarily fail your Will save, as she requested, or do you attempt to make the save?)
Zelsh doesnât even attempt to throw the spell off, letting it affect him.
(Voluntarily failing the will save.)
Wanderer struggles to hide a smirk. Watching Rafau fumble over himself is hilarious.
As the spell takes hold, you all see the guise of a zelekhut inevitable flicker over Zelshâs face for a moment.
âVery good,â says the Abadaran. âPlease repeat your testimony.â
If the guard hadnât shown up, he think heâd be likely to cut a deal of some sort. Get the racket to stop, get the guard to help out in outing the cult, and other such things. Wipe the board clean, then forgive and forget.
Rafauâs fault really. It was easy to get out of this.
Zelsh now repeated his testimony word for word since he had been completely honest the first time.
