(I gotta sleep)
(Yes, that would be a reasonable thing to petition them about. They would generally be expected to do something about it, though what sort of thing would be regarded as a reasonable response would depend on the information you give them. In this case, you would probably want to also provide a reason why you arenât just relying on the Watch to handle it, otherwise the Lord-Mayor might feel like you were wasting his time.)
(Would âwe busted a senior guard who was operating a racket and worry that the watch may have more people in on itâ be a valid reason?)
âThat is fine and dandy, but werenât you the one whoâd just said we should catch the cultist members? Sure, contacts are nice, but Iâd say that we would have more credit to our worth if we were to actually apprehend them.â
âWhat about this? Letâs split the group. One group contacts Amelie, and the other group apprehends the cultists you know. The less time we waste, the more likely we can catch the cultists before they can run away, right?â
âBefore we make any plansâŚIâm thinking.â
(It would depend on how plausible he found your concerns and potentially also on whether your concerns are in fact accurate. If you wanted to be really safe, you could wait a day to see if the Watch in fact goes after the specific targets named, but this does have some downsides in the event that the Watch is not so corrupt that they let the targets go (e.g. you definitely couldnât petition the Lord-Mayor about it without it seeming like you were wasting his time, and if you wanted to interrogate them, tip them off so they could skip town, rob them in the knowledge that itâs unlikely your crime will be prosecuted, etc. then you would not be able to do so))
(you could also submit your petition in written form, since most of you are literate, but this is better as a strategy for âcausing your petition to be acted uponâ than for âgetting an audience with the Lord-Mayorâ)
Wanderer communicates his thinking on the matter of going to the Lord Mayor.
(Basically the arete text)
ââŚI do think we canât negotiate a petition. Iâm ready to discuss plans.â
âApprehending the cultists ourselves would pose a risk of stepping on the watchâs toes. They already donât like us. We busted one of their own! I think we should drop a message letting them know of our general intentions so as to protect our future actions today.â
Wanderer will cast Ears of the City
Round 1: People we donât know much about on the list (who they are, what their deal is, why they might seek patronage)
Round 2: Willingness of the Watch to cooperate with the party on the current Flauros cult investigation

(so, names that you have that werenât already discussed? just confirming we have the same understanding)
(Ye. May got information on some of the names, but you noted that it was not all)
âWe should not act as vigilantes, but we canât trust the Watch (i.e., part of local authorities; essentially police) either. I donât care if they donât like us for quote-unquote âbusting one of their ownâ; the fact that one of them took a bribe is a disgrace in itself!â Ariusâ voice grows louder as his talking speed increases.
(to say less generally, the thing canary has already shown an interest in: bloodlines, and things her party are capable of accomplishing (i.e, info on maguses/clerics/witches, though she wouldnât know what the formermost and lattermost actually are))
(i know of the two bookstores thus far)
(hmmm. Make me a K(Local) or Diplomacy(Gather Information) check (you will get some leads even if you roll a natural 1, but you may get better/more obscure leads if you roll better)
