Jan’s bookstore is still in the same place as it was yesterday! He looks over you as you enter.
“Hello, miss,” he says. “Can I help you find anything today?”

(How would I know that… I wasn’t there…)
I shake my head and look around for books related to the various… capabilities? Of the people I’m. With.
(She’s looking for books on the classes of the various party members)

“Sure,” Drakor nodded, temper somewhat cooled down by the walk back to Amelie’s and his chat with Zelsh.
(@Leafia if you want to retroactively continue our conversation when you’re online that’s fine with me)
“Three rooms, please.” Paprika walked up to the desk clerk with six crowns in outstretched hand.
As she looks through the bookshelves, Canary seems to have something of a grim look on her face:
{…I dunno the impression they gave off. Though. They didn’t really seem to come out with… anything they told the rest of us…}
{…So I shouldn’t claim to be associated with them.}
{It’s… I’d. Prefer to be firm. But. From the way he looked at me.}
{I should probably just. Talk how I look.}
{…Maybe I should… show nervousness. But then he might think I’m… paranoid because I’m suspicious.}
(Canary is so lucky)
(well you all changed your tune from when i was rolling bad)
(you’re much better with d100s than d20s apparently)
(well if we go with the good and holy rolling system i’m bad with d100s and great with d20s)
(LOL)
(touche)
(course this spells disaster for the rest of you because when rolling is needed in that system i roll and i prefer d100s)
(@Arete Sorry to bother but I wanna post a bit before I go to sleep and the thing holding us back RN is Receptionist’s Answer To Whether There Are Rooms)
Fortunately, you’re incredibly lucky with what Jan happens to have in stock. One relevant book is sufficiently popular that Jan keeps multiple copies in stock, such that you could purchase one today without waiting for him to copy it: On the many Divine Vocations , a book intended for those who are considering training to become some form of empowered clergy. The focus is on figuring out whether you would be a good candidate, but it includes some detail on various common (in the area of the person who wrote the book) forms of divinely empowered spellcasters, clerics included.
But there are also several more specialized texts, which would require that you wait for them to be copied. Besides various theology books and biographies (some of which are of clerics), there’s also a thin compendium of known low-circle [low-level] cleric spells, a separate compendium of spells that clerics usually can’t prepare but (for various reasons) sometimes can, though it doesn’t advertise itself as complete (in particular, the second book is explicitly missing information on Evil deities), and a compendium of which major deities are associated with which domains. You can also find a practical handbook targeted towards Pharasmins on making the most out of their powers, but it’s unclear from a brief look how applicable it would be to Wanderer.
It’s a bit harder to find information related to your other companions, considering that you don’t know what kind of spellcaster they are, but some of the books make reference to “swordmages,” people similar to wizards or sorcerers but who are also competent with, like, actual weapons and armor. It seems likely that not all of those are actually referring to the same phenomenon, but some of the books might still be relevant — there’s a political analysis of the swordmage Ozmyn Zaidow’s rise in Numeria, a commentary on several sections of Aroden’s holy book that includes (among many less relevant things) a discussion of an order of swordmages known as the “Knights of the Aeon Star”, and a book on dwarven magical traditions that includes two chapters on different traditions of swordmages.
Rika has shown you the least of her magic, making it the hardest of all to guess what she must be, but some books do contain references to what are variously called “witches,” “pactkeepers,” “wicked shamans,” and “spirit whisperers,” and a couple of those books reference this type of person having a tendency to cackle in a way that sounds rather similar to what you’ve seen Rika do. Unfortunately for your research, the books Jan has stocked seem to have something of a bias (there’s one book that’s literally just an extended tract against the idea of bargaining with spirits of any sort), but some of the books do at least also manage to have factual information, even if their perspective is mostly negative. There’s a history of Irrisen (which is ruled by witches, though based on the author’s name it’s probably not written by someone who was from Irrisen), a guide purporting to offer advice on protecting oneself against the fell powers of witches (which, by necessity, includes some discussion of what those powers are), and even one single solitary biography in the Medicine section of someone purported to be a “pactkeeper” who seems to be described in a positive light, who is said to have made a bargain with an azata’s spirit in exchange for power.
Apart from that, there are also a couple of adventurers’ travelogues that contain references to various types of magic, but while they might contain some references to what you’re looking for, those references would likely be buried in between a whole lot of things that aren’t relevant to you.
“Of course. Would you like us to draw up the same rooms as last night?”
(good news, there are rooms)
Canary picks various books that cover the types, and skims through them in an attempt to find which mention having an magical animal.
(Oops lol you were longwriting that’s entirely reasonable)
“Yes, please do.” Paprika turned briskly back toward her companions. “Shall we keep the same room assignments as last time?” It was more a statement than a question.
Drakor nodded. “Fine by me.”
