“We close at dusk!”
“Excellent. I will see you then,” Drakor moved towards the exit.
(do I pass by the child as I do so?)
(you do!)
“Have a nice day!”
Drakor waved to the child as he walked by. “Good day,” he said, tapping his hood as he left.
“Bye-bye mask man!”
Drakor rejoined Canary outside. “Only a few people bought that cloth, around a few months ago. She has a dress made of that stuff, though - she’s going to let me examine it later in the day.”
“…Did you ask her if she remembers who bought it from her?” She inquires.
Drakor blinked.
He did not say anything for several seconds, then swore in a different language.
if you speak Orc
Those of you who understand Orc would recognize it as not actually a swear word and instead a very heavily accented rendition of the word ‘rabbits’.
Canary looks very, very confused.
“If you… didn’t, could you go in and… ask her? If it’s not too much effort. And if your… story aligns with it. But it’s not really like we have a choice.”
“I forgot,” Drakor said, begrudgingly.
She visibly frowns.
He sighed. “Yeah. I know.”
He lowered his hood and rubbed his forehead. His head was quite bald, and faintly green. “I’m meeting with her later - do you think we can wait until then?”
“It’s…”
She seems to be weighing her options. “After closing, presumably? Provided she even lets you in-”
“…That’s a little dangerous. But. I dunno. What else we can really…”
“I mean it’d probably work but like what do we do in the meantime, and also if we wait too long more people might be in danger-it might not just be him just because he was ousted but because there’s a killer in town that-”
“-it’s really a no win deal because if you go in right now there’s a chance she just doesn’t tell you and”
“…”
I…
…elicit some sort of noise out of my vocal cords.
“If you wait till you meet with her. Which is going to be after closing. Which is at dusk. We won’t be able to act on any information she gave us until tomorrow.”
Drakor frowned. “Why wait until tomorrow? We have the whole night.”
“How will you question people who are asleep in their houses?”
“We don’t.” Drakor looked at her quizzically. “We just stake out their houses and look for suspicious activity. If they’re planning on killing again, they most likely would do it at night, where we can catch them.”
