Serian nods to you as you enter. “Back again? What can I help you with today?”

Drakor nodded back. “Do you sell cloth?”

She doesn’t quite manage to hide her expression – first briefly confused, then slightly judgmental, as her eyes go to some of the fabric sitting on the shelves – but it doesn’t slip into her voice. “We do! Can I help you find anything?”

Drakor withdrew the scrap from his belt and unfolded it. “Do you sell this particular pattern?”

She takes it, rubbing it between her fingers before handing it back to you. “We do! I can get you a discount on it if you’d like, it hasn’t been selling so well.”

(Meanwhile, in the background: “That’s a CHEESE WHEEL! It costs FIVE links. Can you count to FIVE?”

“Wanna hold the wheel!”)

“Oh?” Drakor said. “Is it not that popular?”

“Lots of people have asked about it! But we’ve got one in brown and white that’s a little cheaper, so that one’s been selling better.”

Drakor looked thoughtful. “So nobody’s bought this recently?”

“Not recently, no.”

Drakor smiled, though it was a bit difficult to see underneath his mask. “Excellent. So if I were to wear this around town, I would not be matching anyone else?”

“Oh, a few people did purchase it the first month we had it in stock. I actually have a dress in that pattern myself.”

“Really?” Drakor asked. “Might I see? I’m thinking of making a new mask.”

“Of course!” She steps out from behind the counter and retrieves a bolt of fabric from one of the shelves. The fabric on the shelf is unsurprisingly cleaner, but the two otherwise seem to match. “But I don’t know if it’ll make a good mask – it’s a bit on the heavy side.”

“Hmm…” Drakor examined the fabric. “If it is not too much of an imposition, might I see the dress you have? I have also been meaning to get my sister a gift.”

“It’s back at the family home, but if you come back here after I close my shop for the day, I suppose I could show it to you!”

(“Mama mama what’s that?”

“It’s not polite to point at people, dear.”

“His face is f–”

“Dear! …He’s wearing a MASK, which is like CLOTHES for his FACE.”)

Drakor nodded. “That is acceptable.”

He moved to walk away, then paused. “You mentioned others had bought this when it first arrived? How long have you had it?”

“A few months now.”

Drakor nodded. “And what time should I stop by later today?”
