Tamila laughs nervously. “She didn’t say anything like that! Because she wasn’t here!”
“Yes she was! Mama, why are you lying? You aren’t supposed to lie!”

(welp lets get the popcorn)
{I… don’t know what to do. This sucks. This really isn’t great. Whatever- let’s just try to convince her even though it won’t work}
…but.
My face contorts into a look of pure boiling rage. “Tell me.”
(Canary is rolling to intimidate instead of questioning the child, as she is very smart.)

Tamila’s eyes widen, and her hands start to shake. “Please don’t hurt my children, they didn’t have anything to do with this — Kamilla said there were people after her, that, that they wanted to kill her, she said she could give us money for Pepper—”
(You know that Pepper is the name of the horse.)
Meanwhile, Drakor and Wanderer draw close enough to see the house, with Lionel following on their heels — apparently, the tracks led over to this house. You can see Canary talking to a nervous-looking woman with two young children by her side.
Her eyes bulge as she releases what she’s done. “Nononono I’m sorry I didn’t mean to it’s been a really hard day I just need to she’s-”
Canary books it to the field holding the horse.

Wanderer, Drakor, and Lionel, you see Canary run away from the house — are you following Canary, or going to the house?
Wanderer, while moving with haste, looks back to Lionel.
“Don’t you have the authority to arrest people or something?”
Drakor abandoned the tracks and began sprinting after Canary.
Wanderer follows.
“…If I had that authority, I wouldn’t have attacked Sten myself.”
Lionel, seeing the other two do the same, follows Canary
The four of you sprint over to the fields, though the distance is far enough that you have to slow down after about a minute, and it’s not difficult for you to find Sanno planting barley. Drakor, you recognize him from last night — he was one of the people you were gambling with, the one who lost by far the most money, though he’s got a patterned handkerchief in his belt that he didn’t have last night. The horse is nowhere in sight, but there are some trample marks on the ground.
Without considering alternatives…
Canary follows the tracks.
Drakor skidded to a halt. “Friend,” he gasped, barely stopping himself from falling over and trampling the barley. “I hope- you- are well.”
He pointed at the tracks. “I- have reason- to believe- your friend- is in danger. Where did- she go?”
(Roll Survival! DC 9 to follow them at half-speed, 14 to follow at full speed, 29 to follow at double full speed, latter two require at least one rank in Survival. Since there are a bunch of you, you might also want to handle this with Aid Another to boost your allies)
(…for the purposes of overland travel, “double full speed” corresponds to a ~hustle (basically ‘double move but you can keep it up for an hour+’)
(geyde is best at following tracks right?)
