i’m good at reading leafia though
all caught up! VOTE: leafia hieeeee leafia ^.^ no hard feelings kay?
Im STILL not sleeping & other people probably know me better, but hi I’m soweli (a.k.a. sheep to frog) I post lile gestures at my posts this, give or take. I’ve played a lot of mafia but im new to fol relatively speaking. I will probably bug you about justification for your reads so it’d be nice if you can spare me the effort. I am polarized but not on tone & some related things.
To me, it’s natural in the sense that I think it’s more like easing himself into the thread and not necessarily feeling any pressure whatsoever to immediately contribute. If anything, I would say Zone’s first post sounds more forced. That said, I do agree that his quick departure afterwards is something to be noted
Does 2 votes on Leafia mean a legitimate wagon has formed or are we still in random early D1 territory despite being 8 hours in
I think somewhere in between those two.
I’m going to sleep on divergent’s latest post bc it doesnt feel right.
Hi, I’m Divergent. You can call me Dive for short. Most of my time playing Mafia was in 2017-2018. I then played very little in 2019/2020 then went a few years not playing it until I tried again last year. Went on another break and I’m now back again since Sept.
I basically consider myself as having started over since the earlier years that I played. I’ve changed a lot since that time period and so, it also reflects in the way I’ve been playing recently.
I actually don’t know my wolfrange. I’ve played like maybe 10 games this year? And every single time I randed town. The single time I randed wolf was in a lost wolf game and that’s an entirely different game to play
I treat Hippo the same way Daeron treats Neon in the Cheesening: If he’s Mafia, then that sucks, but I’ll still risk the rand. I favor him more than anyone else in this player list, based on the achievements I remember from his latest game. (I.e., follow Jarek and see where that goes.)
NGL: Yes. This series literally started because overall townplay was not faring well on this site. Sure, we have a Town victory in the latest game, but that was with power roles. This is the fourth installment of this series, meaning that -as I have stated in P#19- Town had lost thrice in a row.
I don’t like defending people for no reason, but uh… I think T3 was trying to lighten up the mood? There is no need for anyone to be cheerful and positive.
I don’t have much to say on his activity though. We play whenever we want to. He might have become busy, or maybe he just popped in to check up on the game on a whim.
Aye. Despite slowly getting more serious talks, I believe we are still in RVS and Leafia happened to catch two votes.
Heya Dive. Nice to meet ya.
May I ask why you would think that?
I think I like this post and that it’s towny
I felt like it was an overly serious response to a somewhat generic “Let’s end the beatings remark”. The more natural response would be somewhat more hopeful to actually beat it? Hence, why I also said it was catastrophizing
Then again, it might be just the site meta that people get into the game immediately rather than just being chill the first couple hours
AFAIK this site does not have the meta to go straight into business. I think that’s just me.
It is more unnatural for me to be hopeful considering I wear a pessimistic lens most of the time. (In particular when I don’t have any means to prove myself as Town.)
Fair. Do you not think though that since it’s the fourth edition, the chances of town finally scoring a win are better than ever? I say this because a few of the people in this player list have also played the previous games and would have a better idea now of how to read the others who also played those games. And also, that there probably were lessons to learn as for why those editions ended up resulting in a loss
I think the odds of Town winning is always independent of past games. While you are theoretically correct about [us having more experiences with each other, therefore supposedly having higher accuracy of reading each other correctly], in practice I believe our collective reads are circumstantial and stagnant.
We have experience on each other, yes. However, that does not necessarily improve our reading accuracy about our alignments.
For instance, it was only a couple games ago when I learned (the hard way) that I cannot enforce my policy of eliminating the low-posters, because some of us simply perform unwell at D1 compared to future days.
I learned from that game, but it does not make me think “ah, their expressed behavior is alignment-indicative”. It just tells me “ah, they behave this way, and I have to accept that as a fact”.
Now, as for the lessons of the past games (that I know of)…
- Pt. 1 (Cheesening): Do not let LHF live to endgame, because even if Town gets a moral victory it wouldn’t be recorded as a true victory.
- Pt. 2 (Chessening): [???] I was killed at N2, and I do not remember much afterwards.
- Pt. 3 (Cressening): Do not express pessimism, because it will get misinterpreted as wolfy. (This got me executed at D1. I did not watch the game afterwards.)
This is standard paranoid town Leafia, she got paranoid because of the soweli message in all caps. “I am faking my excitement because I’m a wolf” - soweli (is the thought Leafia had).I believe her getting paranoid of this.
It also fits with Leafia w/w with Soweli, as that’s how Leafia likes to play as wolf. So Leafia town or w/w with Soweli.
Leafia wolf + Soweli town at the same time - I don’t believe this, I don’t believe w!Leafia was in the mood to start pushing out a villager immediately, also is unusual for her wolf playstyle
Zone is lock town. He doesn’t go this hard as wolf, I just don’t believe it. He plays very orthodox / standard imo. He is good as wolf, but he just does enough to skate by. In all of his previous wolf games I’ve seen he didn’t need to go out of his way to wolf too hard because the thread itself is usually quiet in FoL, so he just sits there and dodges suspicion and wins. As town he is way louder, has more conflict-inducing opinions, and he is putting in so much effort to explain himself here. If he is mafia here he is playing like his life depends on winning this game, and I just simply don’t believe this is likely. As town he likes explaining himself so much, and the actual stuff he’s saying makes a lot of sense for him to believe.
There’s so much you can write about how blatant town that post of his is. Monologuing thoughts that are typical of him, he does that when he’s being sincere (for example, monologuing about Mafia game design or something in Cookie Thread (when he doesn’t lie because he’s not a wolf because he’s not playing mafia). In general monologuing like this is towny, extra more for neurodivergent people. He is just playing with his Role PM revealed (metaphorically)
VOTE: soweli
Unrelated, why do you think his doomering is wolfy if you’ve also seen him do it as town?
Also why do you find it hard to post in the thread when there were only 13 posts before this post of yours? And the game had started 17 minutes ago?
You are right, and he is still town I believe. He is quite different from last game in particular. Beatings part 3. I don’t know what happened in that game, maybe he didn’t feel like being too loud. I think I remember, I think he was self-conscious about being perceived as too loud / conflicting so he wanted to take it easy. Well he got misexecuted Day 1 and Town lost so I think it’s sensible for him to go back to how he preferred playing before.
Zone somehow broke the game and turned a mountainous setup to a setup with an Innocent Child it’s actually incredible. Spewing all your thoughts like that in a calm and collected manner will get you extremely easily identified as town.
