Giving players the option to kill themselves d1 if they really don’t want to play a role is not a failing against the role itself, so long as it doesn’t just make the game borderline unplayable to keep it in (like that one ability Leafia had in Unkindness).

For curiosity’s sake. I believe it was changed to “even if dead” in a later patch, ‘though maybe that was simply suggested or was reversed I haven’t kept up.
basically you are incentivized to 1000% lie and do what you can to get to end game but then the second you die you will come out as the outsider and undo the chaos. which i think is good amount of outsiderness, i dont like politician just being full extra evil

Politician is even if dead so it’s generally just encouraged to buy into the ability

hi hi its me the girl who designed the characters here: Occultist is designed for a very very different kind of script than this one, where stray executions are extremely damaging. it’s a difficult character to script with.
i do feel somewhat responsible for not properly giving like. a rundown on How The Script Works since I designed it and I was nervous about the Butler → Occultist choice, but… sigh I can’t blame myself for everything

i will also note that Wight is designed for live games, in which if you try to do the “everyone nominates themself” shit, the Storyteller just ends the day, which means it takes multiple days of deciding you’re not even going to try to execute the Demon to disable one Minion ability that may not even be in the game.
but obviously you can’t do that in asynchronous text games.
