Reasons why Jason is town in order from most to least convincing (based on D1, i never got to D2):
-He’s not deeply attached to wolfreads just because he put in effort. The best examples of this was his initial OMGUS on Ash (#179), where he prepared like 3 different points including meta diving Ash and adding in exactly how many wolf rands he’s had since the game Ash referenced etc etc. But his initial reaction to Ash’ response is to take a step back and reassess rather than double down. I know people are different wrt this, but I know most ppl (me included) tend to get attached to their fake pushes they’ve spent town fabricating on villagers, since “my work is supposed to lead to mischops damnit!”. And similarly his meta-dive case on Barwe (#411) he instantly backed off of when finding a flaw in his argument (#412) or simply not liking it anymore after writing it out (#415). And it just doesn’t feel performative, it just shines of Lack of TMI. Then later in the day he’s also turning around on his initial Ash wolfreads for beliavable and in depth reasons, which also felt extremely towny to me (#801).
-His treatment of Willow as a whole. Yes, I’m aware it looks ‘bad’ on the surface, but if we actually look at it in context, first off he was the first one to start the willow wagon (#315) when she was still at 0 votes. And then he later on started soft-defending willow in a way that’d OBVIOUSLY look bad if willow flipped W, by putting her as “blegh, but give a day” and then pushing that over and over, Jason probably made 10 posts shitting on the willow wagon that he earlier started. And he also even pushed Dia for having an agenda’d-looking push on Willow. Jason did this in a gamestate where Dia was a consensus villa read and Willow consensus wolf and top wagon. This screams lack of TMI to me. Jason would be fully aware how much this kind of angle would backfire on him if he didn’t manage to save her, and even in the world where Willow does survive d1, it would attach him/willow for the rest of the game, and playing in that way with a low-wim partner doesn’t feel like something high-WIM jason would do. Maybe I don’t know him and he’s just anti-bussing on principle; but if so, why start the wagon in the first place? And Jason even admits (#931) a bit later than his only reason to like willow was “she was ISOing and coming up with thoughts”, which again, a HIGH-WIM Jason would come up with a better fabricated reason if he’d go the hard-defense-of-a-partner route. The only post i could see as looking slightly more w/w would be #1041, but Jason clearly saw the Ash CC happening before he even posted it, so it doesn’t even matter.
-He makes ‘pulse on the game’ kind of posts like #394. I think a wolf is much less likely to come up with a thought like this one than a towny who’s scrolling through and realizing there’s no spice around anymore to generate AI content (wolves already know all the alignments so they’re not as likely to notice such a thing). There’s more like that one
-He’s freeflowy and comes to reads with his own process. He looks at people’s underlying motivations behind their thoughts rather than surface lvl, often adding in personal meta (#199, #314 etc). This leads to him sometimes townreading people scumreading him, and sometimes omgusing if he doesn’t like their reasoning (like d1 on dia). Sometimes he townreads people townreading him (like me d1), and sometimes he pushes back on ppl townreading him (like Ash). There’s not a whiff of agenda or staleness, just jason jumping around to new thoughts based on vibes.
