as someone who has never used a dishwasher and handwashed everything and can but won’t handwash clothing

by technicality you don’t really need that much water to handwash just pretend it’s fifty years ago where people would get out a large pot-sized container of water and use that then rinse lightly afterwards

I didn’t think of that, so the latter.

Yeah im not really sure about the claim that dishwasher uses less water. Pans require a fuck ton of water but dishes and utensils you just rinse them once, wash with dish soap, rinse again. You dont need to keep the water tap constantly running, at least i dont. I have fun micro managing it

i hate using soap and still my plates come out squeaky clean so
pots are very easy to clean just soak them in water for like 10 minutes and come back

I dont cook with pots but our pan is not non-stick and is such a pain to wash especially after my mom cooks i dont think she uses enough oil and there is just egg stuck everywhere :pensive:

And i need to wash 5 times and scrub it hard. Soaking doesn’t get rid of it

maybe a bit more oil would help

I barely do chores bc my household was like “put immense pressure on academics but it is okay if your kid doesn’t do her own laundry until college”

In studies, a conservative estimate places it at 20 gallons of water per 10 minutes of handwashing vs 5 gallons of water per load of the dishwasher. It can be as load as 3 gallons of water depending on the model of dishwasher, and much higher while handwashing depending on a number of factors. This likely assumes that the water is running the whole time, but if you turn it on and off between dishes, I would be surprised if you could get it below 5 gallons. It’s also less sanitary as May pointed out because the water isn’t as hot in the sink nor is it as intense.

it’s not clean then reeeeee

I love the new demon bluff qol features

I remember recently you claimed that hot water isnt more sanitary for washing hands, and cold water is just as effective, but its recommended to use warm water because it makes people wash their hands for longer. If hotness of water isnt more effective for hands, why is it more effective for dishes?

Can we go back to the big bang and try this humanity thing again?

All google results support nbowie’s claims that hand washing uses more water than dish washer. Im still skeptical at the competence of the people washing used for the experiment. One german university claims it takes a human 100 liters of water for 144 items which is mental. When i wash dishes i … Wash the dish, i dont just sit there idly while the water tap is running. Incompetence everywhere
