i played gen 8 AA/ubers with polteageist teams when i was like 15 and got to like 1600 i dont think elo is that strong of a metric on showdown

every generation has its own ou tier thatâs run by its own separate group of people (for the more recent gens it merely transitions from having been current genou to being an old format that still exists). doubles is its own thing thatâs tiered differently

so, for example, gen 4 ou is run by insane people who ban snow cloak from the tier despite hail being dogshit, thus effectively banning froslass (who has no other ability), who had a niche as a spike setter. and yet refuse to do anything about the fact that the best pokemon in the tier is iron head body slam jirachi, who can cheese bad matchups to the ends of the earth by ensuring their opponent doesnât get to play the game
