1960: The Making of the President [NIXON WINS, 269-258]

fair

the most unrealistic part of this game is that the house votes on how the rest of the election goes and not on party line

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE NEW LEAGUE OF NINE

My sincerest congratulations to the winner of this election, and my absolute condolences to that pathetic loser. We will meet you for dinner in 1964 if you will have us, President-Elect Ken–er, I mean, President-Elect Nixon. I’m not a fraud.

all in all I think its a fun game if not a little too dicerolly near the end, I mean I guess that’s a good simulation of an election where you dont know until the very end, but we lose if not for some fortunate flips/lack thereof/drawing gaffe/even getting that 1 cube on IL made the difference

I feel like it always feels like your opponent gets absurdly lucky because I was sitting there going you guys are extremely lucky

of course you could extrapolate it back further to the disastrous debate initiative (which I’m not salty about only because we blinked first on civil rights when we coulda 7-2d even without initiative after those first moves) or may getting that 1 card that made campaigning impossible for us or us NOT getting that 1 card that is -2CP to may’s stuff etc. etc.

I mean we drew good cards but also multiple turns where we had ~nothing we could play as an event at all and were doing damage control the whole time

i definitely felt like you luckmogged us, Greater Houston Ministerial Association Turn 1 and then the “cant expend momentum” card turn2 was brutal, but we had some fortunate rounds ourselves

until the end which I think in like 80% of worlds we lose so we definitely take the cake on luck

Dwight D. Eisenhower turn 1?

i mean you had an equivalent, un-blockable card

actually even better since the state cap is 2 and not 1

Yea

and eisenhower silence wouldn’t have been a good play frame 1 either, bc it was turn 1 and I didnt really need to campaign in specifically states you led. It was worse luck that you got it frame 1 to begin with, it was better played for the CP
