RNC [1960:TMOP Nixon Team Chat]

Each event card translated to CP for us:

Herb Klein (3CP 1R)
event is equivalent to 3CP

Compact of 5th Ave (3CP 1R)
event is equivalent to 4CP (ignoring travel costs)

Heartland of America (3CP 1R)
event is equivalent to 7CP

Profiles in Courage (2CP 2R)
event helps Kennedy

Dwight Eisenhower (4CP)
Event is equivalent to 7CP

Fatigue Sets in (4CP)
Event cancells opponent candidate which doen’t have a value but is pretty good

Real quick @Aleph for Fatigue Sets In, would my opponent be able to pay 1 momentum to flip over our candidate card to exhausted?

Do not believe so

I kinda think it would actually but i’ll probably take your word

thought you meant as in just as an action

no if they spend momentum to use the event text if you play it for its CP yours will be flipped

on a walk rn lol

I propose we start with Play Dwight Eisenhower as an event card, adding to AK, HI, CA, NY, IL, PA, TX

Although its probably better to let them start, it’d be an insane coincidence for them to do Eisenhower’s Silence on the literal first move (and even if they did, it’d be kinda a waste tbh)

I’ll give it until-I-am-back-from-the-gym for you guys to approve or disapprove since if we’re letting them go first our submission is as straightforward as saying they can go first.

but the tentative sub is let them go first

also i’m probably changing the states i’d use this on but yeah

general strategy:

Play the events of Dwight Eisenhower, Heartland of America, and Compact of 5th

Spend either Fatigue Sets In or Herb Klein on media
Spend Profiles in Courage last, use it on issues, ideally being able to strategically control the issues board from there

Ok I am BACK from the GYM. It’s not that big a play anyways and I don’t want to slowroll it so i’m gonna hand it over to JFMay

madame vice president we must promise trickle-down economics

thats a really annoyingly bad card for them to get, especially first.

we gotta go hard on eco nomics

For our 7 Eisenhower cards we should probably do just, like,

CA
NY
PA
IL
OH
NJ
MI

ok I read the rules

this seems good i think

as a person i have some hesitation on the ‘do 4 of the states they did last time’ play

as somebody who learned about how election campaign works once those are decently important states (and i looked at marissa’s chart; given kennedy in texas not going there seems good) and it seems like sound strategy

The reason I do this is because there are cards called “gathering momentumn” that basically give any unclaimed state in a region to whoever has more people there. Right now, since we have the chance, I think we should focus on denying gathering momentumn in the east/midwest just incase kennedy has that card.

also NY we are about to gain 2 on through a card so like

I am thinking we probably don’t spend any in media so far because unless May has a media event card (or spends on media) we will have the advantage anyways, and it doesn’t really matter much, because endorsements seem so much more useless than momentum that the order of the issues doesn’t really matter, and we don’t need that “avoid checks in a region” advantage yet
