NYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HI ATLAS NYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
While true, straight homophobic guys certainly wonât fetishize gay men
Girl you could not have phrased this worse
I hate how I saw this and instantly thought it was an FoLermon typing.
im not homophobic and you sure as shit wouldnât catch me doing that either
so I think including âhomophobicâ weakens your point not strengthens it
What
we were talking about homophobic straight men so i said homophobic straight men?
im not trying to Win an arbitrary award lol
Yeah willow said the same as me. I dont think weâre all on the same page as to what weâre talking about here. Thats why i was so cautious coz i feel like i might have completely misunderstood marlunaâs topic. We can imagine very different things when we read âstraight people hating on yaoiâ
Now it started crashing
Im not the only one with issues so its not on my end, looks like Discourse is acting up
Will it crash for the third time if i click post? Testing
Hmm didnât crash now. Maybe a Discourse intern is pushing buttons
i think its nuanced cuz its anime but i feel like its probably a case of âoh two things im attracted to kissingâ is maybe something some people like idk
i think also a lot of people like romance in general such as i, but i understand why straight men/women arent super interested in seeing like yaoi/yuri cuz its not really their cup of tea. and if weâre using the definitions literally yaoi is considered r-18 which i understand more. like normal gay art is pretty chill but i understand not wanting to see sexual undertones on main. if i got something wrong from this chat oops
i think people hate for a variety of reasons i can think of though. homophobia is one yeah but then theres also just like. undertones, fetishization, distain for romance, etc
Itâs because thereâs too many men in media who are practically in love regardless so the people want something new
I did watch alot alot of straight love stories (Iâm coining this term) and I kind of didnât like it as much, usually it has tropes that makes the whole romance melodramatic and/or horny when I want a more romantic build-up.
I wasnât talking about homophobic people. (They are a different category.)
Specially, I talked about everyone else, beside homophobic straight people.
Including straight men, straight women and lesbians. And most of them almost universally hate yaoi, but like yuri, while they are denying being homophobic.
(Gay men have a bit more tolerance towards yaoi, but even a big chunk of them appreciate a yuri story, while most lesbians just hating on yaoi.)
yeah man this is a you-specific experience
example: the overwhelming majority of fics on ao3 are m/m ships. like, more than m/f and f/f combined iirc
