Yeah, a 70% is a passing grade, which has bled into a lot of things.
tbh my perception is probably warped because apparently people older than me were doing badly on the like. quite easy linear algebra exams. so iâm tempted to just call that a skill issue
that implies that youâre smart, rather than them being dumb
i forget what specific number he said the class average on the exams was it mightâve been a 70 & allegedly the previous period did worse
I mean⌠maybe?
this is basically how i am
and i usually beat myself up a little for getting below a 90 (which i might get this semester, but tbf i was not putting much effort this semester bc of Irl Stuff)
I was going to respond by saying that most people i know who have taken linear algebra also thought it was easy but selection bias
No
It was comm class
yeah Iâm not gonna lie the US system is definitely not very competitive in general, in the grand scheme of things
getting generalized grade distribution statistics does not count lol, many other countries have significantly more directly competitive education systems
the us in general is definitely v competitive and that is also applicable to our general education system
im not saying it is the most competitive but it is up there
zzzz
in almost every scenario everyone can do equally well
which inherently makes it not very much of a competition
a competitive system is one where one person doing better comes at the cost of another one ranking/scoring worse and by and large that is just not the case across the vast majority of the USâs education options
here i see alot of people comparing to see how fucked weâre getting but thats it. this shit is a coop game
yeah basically what lilith said lol
yeah! why doesnât everyone just forfeit at the start of the olypmics, or agree to swim synchronised so nobody feels left out?
atlas feels strongly about the education system
this is a wild thing to post given even a modicum of context
it is still competitive? there is a constant pressure in us culture to be âthe bestâ, and lots of things in that sense are still perceived as being competitions (like college applications and job applications, basically anything where not everyone gets in)
