“Why do you sound so uncertain? Were you really present before the defendant entered the house?”
“Objection! Badgering the witness!”

“Sustained!”
A question can be objected to as being argumentative when it does not seek new information, but instead seeks to have the witness agree with an inference or conclusion. This objection can also be raised as “badgering the witness.”
“That’s all… the only person who could’ve done it is… Mortia.”
She also could’ve gotten you on ‘asked and answered’, but this one sounded more promising.
“The defense has no further questions to the witness. Now, I have a question… to the police department. Whom should I ask to question when they were called?”
“The Chief of Police. Marion Roberts. She’ll be here shortly.”
“You said my word wasn’t good enough to speak for Tally. So I asked for someone you could absolutely trust!” Violetta looks a bit too happy.
“Would the defense like to bring Marion Roberts to the stand?” The judge asks Arius.
“Yes, please.”
A woman, assumedly Roberts, walks to the stand. Her hair is an absolute mess and she’s still solidly in uniform. Her eyes look sharp, and a bit tired. “Good evening, your honor.”
Marion expectantly looks at Arius.
“Witness, please state your name and occupation.”
“Marion Roberts. Chief of Police.”
“Alright, please state the events regarding this incident from your perspective.”
“We received a phone call at 17:25 from the neighbors informing us of a fire. Two firetrucks, one police car, and three ambulances were sent to the scene. Our officers found the defendant in a tackle by a witness. Said witness is now in our protection, and I have their statement of events.”
