complexity through simplicity relies on the worlds best core

pokémon is not that

I think the original game achieved interesting strategy type-wise by having unbalanced numbers of different types, and that a hypothetical more-complex version of this game could achieve interesting strategy type-wise by actively working to give types different identities and such, but that this was an awkward midpoint where everything ended up flattened out by balance

ash swapped around mine and silviu’s numbers for no reason

I did nothing aside from fixing Daeron (the program had him at an earlier version of him being Straight/Smug, which is why he ended becoming a stronger Gummy).

wow what prompted you to make tutuu the worst folermon

Absolutely nothing.
I tried to make him powerful, but he refused to budge from 48th.

5 oof my team being bottom 12 LOL

this is what i mentioned earlier im skeptical at analysis for this. i dont see how zug and magnus are one of the worst mons intuitively. if you just send random moves and fight against everyone and make a million simulations sure maybe they end up bad, but in a human vs human scenario you play smart and shouldn’t you be able to use them better?

my strategy when drafting and playing was to try to predict my opponent’s moves and punish them. i thought of it like a game of mafia. there wasnt much of that in my game vs ruby and game vs marissa, but there was a ton of that in my game vs marluna

From my understanding, the choice rule means that having a good typing defensively far outweighs having a good typing offensively. Having a single weakness and a single STAB type is significantly better than having two weaknesses and two STAB types because it gives more opportunity to be hit by a super-effective move.

i was typing something such as that yes

i dunno how well the traits were added to the analysis in reteospect

OH maybe they weren’t, thats why they ended up so low. nvm, if so, maybe the analysis is valid? if the traits werent accounted for it

I think it’s still a good baseline to work off of – I think if every option is about equal through random chance and only strategy makes some better than others, that’s a decent state for a game to be in

why would the traits not being accounted for make the analysis more valid?

i have two moves: my 1 hit ko gun and this twig i found. i cycle randomly between them.

because without their traits magnus and zug feel much weaker and basic. with their traits they are the 2 best mons imo. and the analysis puts them at the bottom

It’s still valuable to try to account for the traits even if it doesn’t fully work. If there were no traits in play, there’s no way Geyde is the best

I think what you gotta do is try to account for the traits, but also keep in mind that traits which require strategy (like Zug and Magnus, unlike Geyde) will be underrated by the analysis

from what i was told balancing around traits in the spreadsheet was an absolute pain

i too want ash to suffer more!!
