petition for MyLo change

The policy for MyLo I think need to change after Library of Ruina game

Rather than locking the vote that cannot be changed, make this vote by Majority only which only make this forgiving for players who want to discuss the long game and not be forced by only two choices, this does not hinder the wolves in any way

this is run per host and doesnt need to be a site wide standard
in most situations, melo is no votes locked. hosts may opt to change that if they wish to lock votes in melo

I can confirm this matter differs per host.

In my case, I changed it from “locked in XYLO” to “locked in LYLO” because (AFAICR) multiple people complained about it after Chloe pointed it out. (It is impressive I can remember this.)

Originally my games lock votes in XYLO because of tradition (I grew it with it from the beginning), but upon thinking about it, there really was no reason to keep locking the votes at MYLO, so I agreed to the proposal and vote locks in LYLOs only.

That would be nice in adapting this

As Luka says, this is a host decision – hosts are free to make their own decisions regarding whether to lock votes in MyLo, LyLo, or any other time

(of course, you’re free to take that into account when deciding whether to join games, so if a particular set of rules around vote locking is unpopular this is likely to be a self-correcting problem)

my most boomer take is that locked votes suck in all circumstances

my most zoomer take is that locked votes are good in MYLO & LYLO. The game should not be winnable/loseable on when people are available to vote.

It is the kind that stresses out the most.

honestly this kinda slaps as long as you disable majority to block hammering
EoD will be wild but as long as all the townies agree its kinda the same deal anyways but not polarized around what one particular person is doing and then waiting for quickhammering?

this.

It feels bad for wolves to see a townie misvote but because a buddy is MIA for whatever reason they just can’t win because of that. They achieved their goal of fooling a townie enough to get them to place their vote on another town which in XyLo is super hard given how (rightfully) everyone is paranoid of everyone else!

Stress is inherent to Forum Mafia. Not to boomer post but if you cant take the heat get outta the kitchen. Should we attempt to minimize unreasonable stress on players? Yeah probably but I think the stress of a XyLo situation is not ~unreasonable to the point where we need to curb it.

I could fuck with this personally

not arguing this cuz i care because im retired but
if eod is at a bad time for you then you can kinda lose the game for your team anyways with lockvotes if a townie misvotes just before EoD? certainly it is a magnified problem but in my personal experience in LyLo everyone states who they’re gonna vote anyways and doesn’t lock in votes until really really late in the day which is equivalent to just letting people do unlocked votes with no ability to quickhammer

i guess the absolute full centrist would be to disable quickhammer in LyLo but let players lock their votes if they want—its basically just locked votes except it lets the votecount actually be useful instead of just a dead weight non votecount day

We usually end the game if the wolves COULD hammer to win

When hosting I lock votes in MYLO because I want to avoid any situation in which the wolves lose because they weren’t online to snipe / didn’t snipe fast enough

I’ll consider doing this instead though because it achieves the same purpose

I don’t personally like unlocked votes with no majority because (as I have seen when I ran that in Zugbot’s Multivote Mountainous) it can lead to a situation where wolves have to snipe at EOD (in that game it was LYLO, but the same issue is there)

I personally feel they sjould only be locked in lylo myself. Makes more sense that way.

The issue with doing this, though, is that if you want to entirely prevent situations where wolves to have to snipe, is that you also need to add a provision that at EOD, the wolves automatically change their votes to whatever would help them win, which I’m ehhhhhhhhhh about

Qbcord doesn’t lock votes, but some of my best memories as wolf is like. Hunting the votes channel to quickhammer

It works better for us since we’re all mostly in the same-ish timezone, and it is extremely stressful, but it’s a good bonding experience lol

Well no it’s the difference between “auto win” and “progress”
Never force progress on the wolves
I suppose if that auto-wins instantly with no option for night saves I’d be slightly more open
But otherwise don’t do it
