[RP] Play-By-Post Pathfinder

The elf has finished, but Halina and the baron are still working. (PCs can obviously decide how done they are)

I’m just going to… finish 15 seconds after the Baron. Since he’s also probably a guest. I think. And he’s… respected. So it’s got to be good timing.

I start to slow down a tiny bit.

He inclines his head to the elf, clearly trying to communicate a ‘go ahead’ to sharing stories.

Wanderer is used to small portions (lmao worldwound), so he tends to eat fairly slowly. He has a fair bit left.

Actually- wait, what if he eats super slowly and makes me last. I should…

…

I look to Lionel, and eat in a mixed pace between him and the Baron.

(Canary is an anxious eater who is trying to get out of conversation by looking busy eating.)

(And is used to eating quickly in order to not have to interact with her family who regularly eat with her.)

(Fair. It helps that to Zelsh, mealtimes are for eating, not talking.)

Zelsh would clearly be enjoying any mest that wss served, although he’d also serve himself some vegetables to be polite, along with a carrot if there wax any to the right of his plate. It was considered polite to do so while eating in someone else’s house as a guest after all.

Zelsh was quite impressed by the baron’s story too. “That reminds Zelsh of when Zelsh encountered two giant spiders alone recently. I managed to kill one of them, but the other one managed to getvaway.” the half-orc commented.

(And Zelsh here having beaten two giant spiders at once. Giggles Curious how you were expecting that fight to go now Arete.)

Arius tends to eat quickly; a habit formed by both his former occupation, and the lack of anyone telling him to eat slowly when he was a child.

However, given the… nature of his current surroundings, he makes sure to hold back his improper eating habits, and spends more time than usual on chewing his food properly. In silence.

The food is delicious, no doubt, but after his first bite he learned quickly to lessen the size of his portions instead, as to make it easier for him to spend more time on tasting and chewing and chewing and chewing… until the taste completely vanishes from his mouth.

(What an ingenious method this is. It seems I have learned yet another useless lesson today. “Chewing Properly: How to waste time and energy when eating.”)

She hesitates for a moment, before jumping into a story. “Did you ever fight a vermlek? One time, we were accompanying Her Ladyship, and we saw a suspicious traveler by the side of the road — we go to take a closer look, and the next thing you know, he’s going after us with his Abyssal magic. He had some kind of spell that could make a whole group of people start bleeding, but thank the gods, we were able to put a couple arrows between his eyes before he could cast it a second time.”

“I remember that,” says Halina. “He was carrying Mendevian coinage, so my best guess is that he’d possessed some poor fellow and hitched a ride across the Lake of Mists and Veils.”

“First time I’m hearing of this,” says the baron, but the tone is friendly teasing more than a reprimand.

He is looking to give some relevant information about how to deal with them and their capabilities.

“Two at once, and all by yourself,” remarks the baron. “From what I recall, their poison can be nasty — I hope you weren’t too badly injured.”

((Ditto. Kn-Dungeoneering, right? If so, then +7 for Arius. Otherwise, +2.))

((Aw shucks. That’s a 14+2 for Arius in that case.))

Vermleks are a type of demon formed from the souls of mortals who desecrated corpses, like necromancers or people who rob graves to sell their corpses to anatomists. From what you recall, they’ve got a few different magical talents relevant to combat — most relevantly, they can summon dretches, cast a mass Inflict Light Wounds spell, and possess dead humanoids. Like many demons, they’re best damaged with cold iron or good-aligned weaponry (either works), but they also have an unusual semi-vulnerability in the fact that they respond to positive and negative energy like undead, and would be damaged (…slightly, it’s not usually an incredibly practical combat option) by positive energy.
