Doesnt seem like youre excited to play etiquette games at a fancy dinner
Drakor gets to infodump about hunting/tracking stuff
I count this as a win

can I like pay one of you to do the things I want to do for me. I feel like that’d get me better results than myself rolling.
i have a dice avg of 7.66 out of 42 rolls (7.51 and 43 now)
+1 d8 that i rolled an 8 on
this sounds a little worse when i state that the majority of my good rolls were when canary was lying to drakor
Not whom, but who.
…assuming Arius wants to be a JOAT of sorts (which he won’t be, but assume such is the case), would he have to spread his skill ranks all over the place to be able to exceed the cap of 10, or is this specifically a thing only for Knowledge skill checks?
It’s specifically for Knowledge skills with one exception that I know of – most skills are either fully usable untrained (so you wouldn’t be capped at any particular result) or trained only (so you wouldn’t be able to make the check even if it was only DC 10)
(the exception that I know of is Survival checks to follow tracks, but I hadn’t realized that was an exception until partway through the first arc
)
(there are also various feats and class features and so on that can get around it)
(how would it be horizontal if the fork faces down (which is a vertical position)?)
(i’m so dizzy so this is prolly a stupid q)
I assume the things are ordered horizontally, but placed vertically.
E.g., fork, spoon, knife.
But then placed vertically. (Up and down.)
ah. thanks.
like this, but the fork is facing “down” in the sense of… the tines being pointed towards the plate + tablecloth, rather than up towards the ceiling? does that make sense
oh yes i get that
Disable Device, some uses of Handle Animal (you can handle an animal without training, but you can’t e.g. teach it tricks), Knowledge skills for DCs above 10, Linguistics, Profession (obviously, you can still do some labor without specialized training, but you couldn’t e.g. be a successful professional herbalist just by virtue of having a high Wisdom modifier with no training), Sleight of Hand for purposes other than hiding objects on your body (actually, looking at that one, that’s apparently another “result is capped at 10” one, I hadn’t known that (it’s not capped for hiding objects on your body)), Spellcraft, Use Magic Device
on aonprd the trained only ones are also marked in the skills tab next to their titles on their separate page, ‘n’ if you use the character sheet arete posted it’ll show if you can’t use a skill (except for the weird stuff arete said) based off the fact it doesn’t have a number listed in the “total” skills tab
(and to reiterate from previous discussion, “trained” means you have at least 1 rank, regardless of your effective modifier – I have a wizard in another campaign with a +5 Int modifier, but he’s still capped at 10 for Knowledge(Nature) checks because he doesn’t have any ranks, whereas a character with a -2 Int modifier but 1 rank in K(Nature) could make a higher-DC check by rolling well enough)
(do any of us need int ranks? we could kill him and steal his int.)
*checks time*
Oh boy! 3 AM!
('m fine to move past the dinner scene)
