“That mace… how much for it?” Drakor said, shifting his focus. “And may I ask where you obtained it?”

The spider is clearly on its last legs – one more hit would bring it down. But it’s the spider’s turn now…

The spider advances angrily on Bugibugi, hissing madly as it waves its legs in his direction. It bites down hard on his feet, sinking its fangs straight through his boots, and this time, he can feel its poison worming its way into his body, sapping his strength.

(take 4 regular damage, and 2 strength damage!)

Mechanics

This turn was much the same as the spider’s last, but with one major exception: Bugibugi failed his saving throw. This means he experiences the effect of the spider’s poison. He will have to keep making saving throws each turn until he either succeeds at a saving throw, curing the poison (more potent poisons might require more than 1 successful save), or the duration of the poison expires. In this case, the poison takes the form of ability damage – ability damage is temporary, and can be healed over time with rest at a rate of 1 point of ability damage per day (faster with treatment and/or relevant magic), but it is somewhat harder/slower to cure ability damage than to heal hit points.
