[RP] Play-By-Post Pathfinder

It seems like this guy is also telling you the truth — he feels like he’s been tricked, and that even if they technically had an agreement, the man he’s angry at was taking advantage of him. He even seems to be telling the truth about their substandard work (although the issues with the field look relatively minor, so he might be being a bit nitpicky).

(But Drakor’s really just trying to flank the guy jusssst in case)

(Can I also roll sense motive, specifically about whether he intends to act with violence?)

You hear the low sound of Canary chinking coins in her pouch against the others, similar to, but not exactly the same as, when she was fantasising about using them shortly after the four of you brought Kamilla home in manacles.

(you may)

“I see. Given the circumstances, the traveler has already done much of the work under the promise of receiving pay. You may have been in the right to have refused them initially, but you lack that right now. From my perspective, you could be attempting to use prejudice to get out of paying someone for work that’s already been done.” Wanderer pointedly pauses to let the less dusty man fully understand that there are implications behind that statement (feel free to have me use bluff for making them think I am actually able to legally act on that)

“I recommend paying them for the fair work done already.”

Your sense is that the less dusty man doesn’t seem likely to resort to actual violence without a much greater provocation, despite his anger. He might turn to violence eventually if he didn’t see another way to get this guy out of his fields, but he’s pretty sure these Rostlanders will give up once they realize he’s serious, so he’s not expecting he’ll actually ‘need’ to.

The less dusty man blanches. “Hmmph. I’ll pay half what we agreed to, since they gave us half a day’s work.”

“That’s not fair!” says one of the kids. “We were working for more than half the day, so you should give us… uh…” He starts counting on his fingers, runs out of fingers, and starts over. “eight… elevenths?”

The father gives the kid a look. “Life’s not fair, kiddo. At least he’s giving us something.”

(The kid is telling the truth about thinking it’s unfair, and not intentionally doing the math wrong , but he’s also not very good at math (and aware of this fact) such that he has no confidence in his specific answer being correct. It’s probably at least around the right ballpark, just based on the time.)
