Paprika looks like a miserable wet cat in the rain – her outfit is not suitable for this. Grumbling, she digs around in her backpack for a cloak and throws it over herself, leaning forward unstably to keep her cross-body bag as dry as possible. She shakes a bit as the caravan moves.

Her eyes have been darting around the road since before the rain started, but now that she’s blinking rain out of them like tears, she can’t see for shit, and her hood isn’t protecting her nearly well enough for her eyes to dry.

Ugh. I wish there were a spell to keep my eyes dry.

Spellcraft, not K(arcana)

((All magi knows how to prepare Read Magic by heart from memory apparently, so Arius will cast Read Magic and skip the deciphering process.))

((Dangit, Zone’s luck…))

I have a bad feeling about this. There’s spells that can control the weather… And I really should check something anyway.

Paprika began muttering something to herself.

(Paprika would like to cast Detect Magic, then look 1. ahead of the caravan 2. carefully at Canary’s things.)

(It’s raining!)

((*checks out Detect Magic*))
((*reads “Components V, S”))

((Y’know what? Why not.))

Arius also casts Detect Magic in the direction ahead of the caravan.

((Y’know, it didn’t click to me that Rika has suddenly joined the party. I guess Wanderer has introduced her to us before we left?))

(And so the detect magic-ening begins)

(I think you still need to prepare it, but in this case it’s a moot point)

The rain itself is not visibly magical, nor are any of the people, but after a couple moments of concentrating, you spot a few objects with magical auras. The man who calls himself Wanderer is carrying a magical pearl, Arius and Lionel both have magic wands, and the scroll Arius recently put away seems to be magical as well. The travelers also have a few potions between them, including some rather unusual ones — maybe not technically potions at all — on Lionel’s belt. All* the auras are fairly faint, but nonetheless visible.

Perhaps surprisingly, despite the overall magic loadout of the party, Canary doesn’t seem to have any magic items among her possessions.

Also, a couple moments after you cast your own spell, you hear Arius repeat the exact same words and perform the exact same gestures that you literally just did, and another magic aura appears.

(identifying the associated schools is technically a K(Arcana) check, and identifying the properties of a magic item is Spellcraft)

[* this is arguably non-RAW for the Pearl of Power, but there was an FAQ that I’m choosing to adopt]

The rain itself is not visibly magical. Besides the expected auras associated with your party’s gear, and the aura associated with the spell that Rika just cast, there is also an aura emanating from a thin wooden wand in Rika’s possession.
