[RP] Play-By-Post Pathfinder

(alright, is that what you’re doing?)

(Yes)

Paprika thinks over the offer for a beat, first with a perfectly neutral expression, and then a moment later with her “thinking face” on.

Despite her airs, she is not at all knowledgeable about jewelry: she thought this quartz stone would be enough to invoke respect, after all. Every stone in a mystery novel is a priceless one-of-a-kind precious heirloom, giving her no baseline at all…

I’ll have to check the bookseller for a more detailed book on jewelry later. For now…

“An acceptable offer. Thank you for your courtesy to my valet.” The sarcasm on that last remark is only light. She shoots Canary a… somewhat equally incomprehensible glance.

The most straightforward way to fix it would be to re-break the arm in the same place as the original fracture, carefully reposition it (possibly with surgical assistance), and then, once you’re absolutely certain that everything is in the right place, re-heal it with one or more Cure spells (or channels or the like). If this were done properly, you expect that the arm would eventually regain its full functionality, though obviously it would be a fairly delicate process, and if you made a mistake you might just end up with an arm that had the same issue as before, or even worse issues. You have a sense that the process of regaining its functionality after this would be faster if (after performing the same process) you supplemented with other healing spells, but you’re not familiar enough with the details of the injury to be sure which ones would be necessary or sufficient.

It might also be possible to accomplish the same thing except via natural healing instead of a Cure spell, but there would be approximately no benefit to doing it that way, unless you were for some reason extremely worried about the amount of healing you have access to.

Alternatively, if you were strong enough to cast Regenerate (or had another way to regrow lost body parts), you could amputate the arm and then Regenerate it. You’re pretty sure this would work perfectly and immediately restore the arm to full functionality, the problem is just that Regenerate is an extremely powerful spell, to the point that you’re not sure off the top of your head whether there is anyone in the entire country who knows how to cast it.

Mostly, Rika just doesn’t want to lose. Things which qualify as losing are included but not limited to: accepting a low price for jewelry, not getting to show off her courtier’s outfit she worked so hard on, and having members of her party insulted by outsiders.

She’s relishing quite a bit in her ability to show up without a word and “save the day”, but there’s clearly some level of genuineness to the way she lightly snaps at the jeweler for underselling Canary.

Rika’s happy to get a fancy new necklace out of this, but mostly because it consists of a perceived victory over the jeweler, not for especially materialistic reasons.

(How difficult would this appear to be?)

(Pretty challenging — not literally beyond what you’re theoretically capable of under the right circumstances, and a sufficiently experienced healer would be able to do it easily, but you’re not confident you could do it reliably, or even that you could reliably avoid making the arm worse. Though of course, if you were able to arrange for the right tools, assistance, etc., you could improve your odds.)

“Not an impossible task, but definitely not an easy one.”

He explains the situation to the bartender, alongside the practical solutions.

“Of course, ma’am, it’s a pleasure doing business with you. The piece should be ready for you to pick up by the ninth of Gozran.” (It’s currently the seventh, unless I messed up counting somewhere,)

Paprika smiled and gently nodded. “Excellent. My valet will pick it up when it is ready.”

She turned and left the jewelry shop, motioning for Canary to follow.

He rubs his forehead. “I have to say, I don’t love the thought of breaking my arm on purpose . 'Specially if you’ve never done this before.”

Like a dog, Canary follows after her.

[Canary has obtained 100 crowns.]

It’s still raining when you leave, but at least by now it’s more of a drizzle than a proper storm. Where are the two of you headed next?

Canary looks at her like she expected her to be following her the whole time.

She’s leaving the opening option- where to go- to you, but it’s not like she doesn’t have Some Idea of what she could do.

{We… probably should’ve asked about the baron… but he probably wouldn’t have said much either way.}

Once out of earshot of the shop boundary is crossed, Paprika turns to Canary with a slightly smug smile. “Next, how about we go to the bookshop? Once the necklace is ready, I can meet with any noble without an issue. My father had some noble blood, you know.”

“Wouldn’t fault you for that. If I do happen upon the means, I’ll see if I can assist. Thanks for the drinks.”

Wanderer gets up and goes to check out the tenement houses, seeing if he could do something to help and get some information along the way.

Canary nods.

She doesn’t seem to have any great interest in your blood-claim.

Paprika looks irritated at Canary’s silence, both in response to her recent statement and her stunt in the jewelry store. “Which means I have a genuine claim to speak to them. If they ask me about my family, I can respond in truth.”

She turns along one of the streets, slightly pulling Canary along with her. “The others aren’t going to find anything at all in the bookstore, I bet. They can’t even navigate the streets of Hazel Ford, let alone the people.”

Paprika slows down to look at a fabric store. “If you want some more suitable clothing, I can make you some.”
