[RP] Play-By-Post Pathfinder

Real guards, seems like. No fun. If only I’d prepared Detect Secret Doors as well.

“Good morning!” Paprika announced herself. “What’s going on here?”

(as they go, canary is Very Specifically trying to memorise the way from hazel ford to the small village, as she’s assuming she’ll have to Make Her Way Back.)

((Assuming this is April 8th 2004… Thursday?))

Before Arius could ask another question, the spotlight moves on to the new person in the vicinity: Rika, the most recent member of the party.

It’s Starday! You can see the calendar we’re using here (you will need to select Gozran) (there are several different calendars floating around that purport to be Pathfinder calendars but contradict each other)

“Miss, this is a crime scene,” says the older of the two Watchmen.

“You’re not a cultist, are you?” asks the younger one.

“No…” Arius sighs, as he is obligated to vouch his companion’s identity. “She is with us. There is also one more member who is not present at the moment, but I’m sure she will catch up to us one way or another.”

((I’m assuming that Zelsh has been following us all this time.))

I did not pick the starting date by sheer coincidence, yes,

You make your way back across the river. Whatever the kid’s other flaws, he was telling the truth about the current water level; your clothing is absolutely soaked through, up to a couple inches below your knees, but you make it safely across.

The kid is pulling a handcart, and you get the sense that he’s definitely a slower walker than you. The route he’s going involves walking along the shore as he makes his way east upstream, then eventually switching to a northeasterly walk once he hits a specific stream that feeds into the Stetven river. Despite the name, the stream does not look particularly muddy.

Your trip goes smoothly at first, but about fifteen minutes after you turn off at the stream, the kid stumbles over some loose rocks and falls, losing his grip on the handcart. You hear the sound of fabric ripping, and when he clambers to his feet again, his hands are skinned, his trousers are covered in mud, the knee parts of both his trouser legs have torn open, and a bolt of fabric has also fallen from the handcart into the mud. He initially seems unbothered by his injuries, but when he looks down at the fabric in the dirt and his torn trousers, he bursts into tears.

“Well, I guess that’s alright, then,” says the younger one.

The older one gives him a disapproving look, but he seems oblivious to it.

“Oh I’m um-”

I turn away to not allow him to audibly hear the vocal component of the spell at an awful time. “Valentine.” Then, I quickly pick up the bolt of fabric, clean it using prestidigitation, and rapidly show it to the kid. “Uhm. It’s. Clean now. And… I’ll fix your trousers too. But that might take a bit longer.” I stammer out.

((I feel like I should let May do the talking…))
((…))
((But before that…))

“Say, did the guard who told you to guide us here happen to say anything about the entities inside the abandoned hospital? They appear to have gotten in by using a spell that temporarily turned their bodies into gas.”

(If I am reading this correctly, all the tracks we can see are from people present?)

“Right. I could tell that, What crime?”

Could Wanderer sense motive the two guards to get their general mental state in response to the cellar being empty?
