By the way, there are mental barriers to prevent you from easily biting your own finger off. Otherwise it’d be as easy as biting through a carrot.

“The syringe is currently in Evelyn’s left pocket,” Deryn’s voice called out. “Proof has been ascertained.”
At that, Santiago stood abruptly and approached the auctioneer.
“Did you hear that?” He motioned toward the door, where Deryn and Evelyn were still quarrelling outside. “The syringe has been found.”
He leaned in closer to leer at the auctioneer. “Now, I would suggest you return to me my gold. You can keep your 25%, but I want 75% back as agreed earlier, if I did not win the auction.”
A wolfy smirk crossed Santiago’s face. “Don’t worry, I am not going to harm you. But I suggest you stick to the rules you establish… or you might have a troubled sleep, my friend. And besides,” he added, glancing at the door, “you didn’t want her to get the item anyway, did you?”
